>Check out this challenge! It’s at MyFriendAmy’ blog and it challenges us to get a nonreader to read and us already readers to read more! Here are Amy’s ROE!
It’s called the Read One Book Challenge.
Here are the rules.
1) Read one book you have never read before by December 31st, 2008.
2) This book must not be a children’s book that you are reading to your kids. It must be a book for you.
3) This book may not be part of work related research. This book is for you.
4) It can be fiction or nonfiction.
5) Please leave a comment telling me you’re joining in and write a post linking back to this post to invite others to join in as well (if you have a blog, if not just leave a comment!).
6) For bonus points, spend an evening at a Barnes and Noble, Borders, or local independent bookshop browsing through books. (apparently there’s a huge percentage of people who don’t go to bookstores, either)
7) When you’ve completed your book write a post about it and I’ll link to it here!
If you are like Amy and read 2-4 books a week, please still join in though you’ll probably complete the challenge a lot faster than others. One ten dollar Amazon gift card will be awarded through random drawing to a person who signs up and completes the challenge on time.
So get thee over and sign up!!
>I know I have mentioned this before, I keep hoping that if I keep saying it, it will eventually sink into my little pea brain, 15 minutes is not enough time to pee, put in my contacts, wash my face, brush my teeth, get dressed and put on my makeup. Oh and if you have an extra 5 minutes, that is not enough time to go online or clean the litter box! Sorry Butterscotch.
And the day did not get any better. The train was late leaving GCT, by about 40 minutes! Oy. And today is one of the days that Stitch takes my car so I had to call Em to not come get me because the train was late but she didn’t get the call until she was at the train station. Anyway, I did not go to the meeting tonight, Tigger didn’t either, he wasn’t feeling well. It didn’t stop him from eating two bowls of Tootsie Rolls though. And I finally got my songs. I took my MP3 player upstairs and downloaded them from the computer. He would never have sent them. I didn’t sign the computer out of the Amazon account, I need to do that next.
The delay was O.K. in one sense, though, I finished reading The Devil’s Right Hand Man.
Now I have to decide which one of three books I have I will read next.
>I don’t remember what that refers to but I just bought the book at B&N. I find it very interesting that a book written in 1974 is still sought after today. Several people recommended it, and I thought, I should read it since I love Charlie Manson, wait, that didn’t come out right. I am fascinated by him. His control over others. He was a little guy, same height as me, talk about a Napoleon complex!
It is the #1 True Crime Bestseller of All Time (according to the cover) and “One of the best crime stories ever written.” — Chicago Sun – Times Showcase. So I am reading it, well I read a little in it, I have some other books to read first. A library book and some other TC books I bought and I also have some DVD’s I got from the library that I need to watch. But since I now own it, I can read it at my leisure. Or all at once as I sometimes do.

>Em sent me the e-mail that I posted below. I added the colors, I was going to make them all different fonts but decided that was too much work. My head is still feeling like someone is inside trying to get out. I have been eating food I am allergic to, I have to stop that. I have to go to bed earlier also. Right now I have to go upstairs to take a shower and get D’s e-mail address for BN. I don’t know if I want to read or watch TV, what I should do is put my aching head to bed to see if that fixes it. If I don’t come back tonight, that is what I am doing.
Tigger bought some songs, he said he would share them with me, so far he hasn’t. I am tempted to go upstairs and send them to me, but I don’t know where he saved them. Anyway, I just changed my password so he can’t get into the account anymore. I just don’t know if he has to enter it to buy anymore songs. What I mean is the computer upstairs was signed into my account, I don’t know if he signed out and if he didn’t, if changing my account will stop him from being able to buy anymore songs. I mean, he won’t buy them without my permission, but he promised to send them to me and he hasn’t. That annoys me.
>Women over 50 don't have babies because they would put them down and forget where they left them.
A friend of mine confused her Valium with her birth control pills… she has 14 kids but doesn't really care.
One of life's mysteries is how a 2-pound box of chocolates can make a woman gain 5 lbs.
My mind not only wanders, it sometimes leaves completely.
The best way to forget your troubles is to wear tight shoes.
The nice part about living in a small town is that when you don't know what you are doing, someone else does.
The older you get, the tougher it is to lose weight because by then, your body and your fat are really good friends.
Just when I was getting used to yesterday, along came today.
Sometimes I think I understand everything, and then I regain consciousness.
I gave up jogging for my health when my thighs kept rubbing together and setting fire to my knickers.
Amazing! You hang something in your closet for a while and it shrinks 2 sizes!
Skinny people irritate me! Especially when they say things like…'You know sometimes I forget to eat!' ….Now I've forgotten my address, my mother's maiden name and my keys, but I have never forgotten to eat. You have to be a special kind of stupid to forget to eat!
The trouble with some women is that they get all excited about nothing and then they marry him.
I read this article that said the typical symptoms of stress are eating too much, impulse buying, and driving too fast. Are they kidding? That's my idea of a perfect day!

>I didn’t get up today until 10:45. My head is pounding right now, I either need some caffeine or some food.
The dress I got fits, sort of, it is a little tight around the arms, and I wore the wrong bra, the straps were showing in the back. My green sweater matches so I wore it over the dress. It is the straight one with the graduated flower print. I just checked my mail and the WW website so I am going now to get some food. I may be back later.
I watched the first DVD of Law & Order: Criminal Intent and the movie ‘Lemony Snicket’s – A Series of Unfortunate Events. It was kind of cute. Three orphans, a clueless banker and policeman, and a villain played by Jim Carey. I think I will watch another episode of Criminal Intent then go to bed. Maybe that will get rid of my headache.
>I was just going to tack this on to the other post but well, thought I should start another. After I posted this morning, I went to Allsport with Em. Well, first we went to lunch at Panera, then after Allsport we went to the mall. Her DVD player quit and so she was thinking about getting another one. We ended up both getting portable DVD players, Philips, they are pink for Susan Komen Breast Cancer. After we got home, I went to the library to return my books and decided to pick up some movies to watch on my new DVD player. I haven’t yet because Forensic Files was on and then Primeval. So now I am back on my computer and don’t really have time to watch a movie.
On another subject, one of my dresses came. If it fits, I am wearing it tomorrow for service and the meeting.
Not much left to say, I am going to check WW and then maybe watch something on BBC America’s website.

Just had to adjust the time zone on this blog. When I posted my comment to enter to win this book, I wrote which books of hers I have read (if you are interested, check out the list on the right). I haven’t read any of her historical fiction about the royal family. I liked all the books by her I have read though. I am sure a lot of people will enter.
I also sent an e-mail to Peter Robinson. I have no idea why, I have never done, well, actually, I have been posting to Gary C. King on Shelfari.
