Upstate

I spent Saturday night at my old place. I used to rage against people who said I lived upstate, “I don’t live upstate, I live in the Hudson Valley.” Saturday when Em was in the city and the Greenpeace guy was asking us for money, the first question they always ask is “Where are you from?” Em answers, “Upstate.” So ….

I slept in my old bedroom, except it wasn’t my old bedroom. The bed was where my sewing machine used to be, they actually turned the two rooms into one, so there is a sleeping area and a sitting area, so Sarah can have a friend over. Em got corn and roasted it on the grill. It was so good, but I was sick, I am still sick. Blech.

Yankees lost on Sunday, CC went on the DL, I told Alex, “The Yankees are doomed, that means no more half-price Papa John’s.” His reply was they better start winning again because he wants his pizza!

So my head is going to explode anytime now. I should post the rest of my pictures before that happens.

Calling all photogs

There is no rhyme or reason for my photos, I just shoot what interests me.
There are a lot of playgrounds in the city.

I had no idea what this was, so I googled it and you can click on the link to read about it, or you can google Tudor City like I did.

There is a lot of tile work in the subway. Most of it is the name of the station, sometimes it is a picture. This is at the 96th and Lexington subway stop (or maybe the 110th, I’m not really sure). If you look closely, you can see that the man is wearing a NY Yankee baseball cap.

Deleted my blog

Obviously not this one. Another blog I had that I was doing nothing on. I think I started it because I was having problems with my Yankee blog and started it to ‘save’ the posts.

After I deleted the blog I got this message from WordPress:

Thank you for using WordPress.com, your blog has been deleted. Happy trails to you until we meet again.

Not to worry WordPress, I have 5 other blogs with you.

Today I went to work, yesterday I stayed home sick, either a cold (which is what I truly think it was) or bad allergies. So for most of the I lounged around in bed, had a lazy day. When I got hungry I realized I had to go out because there is very little food in my apartment. Of course I wanted Mac N Cheese, which meant that first I had to go to a store to buy a pan so I could make dinner. While I was there I picked up some other things I need. Then to the grocery store, and I bought all the boxes of gluten-free mac-n-cheese (well what if they stop carrying it?). When I got home I made some and ate it (not all, I put some away for lunches). Then I turned the game on to watch the Yankees lose (well I didn’t want to watch them lose, but that’s what happened).

Work was going fine, Jean came in and asked if I had heard anything about lay-offs. Noooooo, I really wasn’t thinking about lay-offs. Apparently people were notified by e-mail, I don’t know if that is even legal. 16 from my department. 1 from our Region. Not me, I have avoided detection by the powers that be once again. The big boss invited everyone to happy hour, or as she changed it to after the everything that happened, “Solidarity Hour”. I wasn’t going to go because it was raining, then it stopped and so I went. Had a relatively nice time (I mean it was work people, not my usual crowd). On the way I stopped at the Asian restaurant on the corner and got some spring rolls and steamed dumplings. Pretty good I thought.

Since yesterday was the last game of the regular season and tomorrow starts the ALDS tonight I updated my page of Yankee Records, check it out if you get a chance.

That’s all, says she.

just an update

Yesterday I went to the game. The Yankees lost and I got soaked. I was also late to my nail appointment even though I left before the game was over. I got stopped by a police officer in Grand Central who wanted to know if they won. I couldn’t tell him.

So I was late to my nail appointment. I didn’t lose any sleep over it. Then after I stopped to eat something. Jalapeño poppers. I have been thinking of them since last Saturday. So I ordered some and some Jameson Irish Whiskey, which turned out to be the perfect end to my day. Except when I went online later, I could not remember what I wanted to do!!

but I have decided not to stress about it. I was moving for one, getting settled in, and I got sick. First a cold, then today all day I have been feeling like I was going to throw up. So bad that I decided to just stay home tonight even though it was supposed to be my first night at church.

Sitting here watching the Yankee game and live blogging, I realize I need a lamp, this half of the apartment gets rather dark at night. I didn’t realize it until I was spending the evenings here. I just wonder where I am going to put a lamp.

No Baseball tonight

Home run derby tonight and tomorrow is the All Star game. I don’t know if I’ll be watching but Cano won the home run derby, edging out Adrian Gonzalez. Classic New York Yankee versus Red Sox. Every time someone said something to me I replied, Are you AWARE NOW? Just to say it.

Time to sleep, and I am wondering if I should change the title of my blog, I have some ideas but they all seem kind of lame or like I am copying someone.

The pictures are posted here, here is the written account.

They were selling $500 and $100 dollar tickets. $500 you got to meet the athletes face to face and pictures etc. We didn’t have money for the $500 so we got the $100. Em already had tickets for the game as part of her Saturday plan. The event was to start 90 minutes after the game, the e-mail said to report an hour so that’s what we did. We right behind this annoying woman. You know the kind, bossy, know-it-all, tries to run the event. Of course we kept running into her.

The event didn’t start on time, the guys were running late, after the $500 people were in, we were allowed to go up to the door, our names were marked off the list, we got wrist bands and drink tickets. As we were waiting to come in. The door opens and Nick Swisher walks out. Everybody kind of mini freaked out. Except me, I maintained my composure (major freak out).

So then we went inside and it was great! Nick Swisher and David Robertson came up to the divider and talked to fans and signed autographs and posed for pictures. Then the guy went over to mix drinks, I went over and starting taking pictures of Boone Logan with my phone and sending them to another friend. She was dying, her boyfriend asked me to stop. The athletes aren’t allowed to actually serve people, but Boone Logan poured my drink. Squeee! That’s where I got his autograph, he was kind of hanging back earlier. It was a great experience.

One last thought. David Robertson is way cuter then Nick Swisher. Truth.

Topic #144:

Make a top ten list of things to do this summer. And if you are somewhere in the world where the seasons are different, make a top ten list of things you want to do next season.

1. Go to all the Saturday Yankee Games.
2. Go see the Staten Island Yankees play at Dutchess Stadium.
3. Start looking at apartments in Manhattan.
4. Read more books.
5. Get my Beth Israel hospital bill settled.
6. Get my insurance claim with EVIL Asurion settled.
7. Lose 5 pounds.
8. Exercise more
9. Go swimming.
10. Post everyday.

I noticed that this is not a ‘things you want to get done’ or goals, just things to do this summer. More on the line of summer activities. At least that is how I took it.
