March 16 was the first day of working remotely, NYS way of saying we are working from home. At first it was until March 30, it is now April 13 and I am still at home.

At first it was, Yay! No getting up early or having to get dressed! And it was fun. Then I started to think about all the things I wasn’t getting done. Not being able to pop by the brewery after work for a pint. The isolation is starting to wear on me.

And then started the petty annoyances, not being able to go anywhere, wanting to sew face masks and not having the supplies and nowhere to buy them. Ordering contacts and not getting them and it’s been a month. Ordering knitting supplies and having the store call me to say they can’t ship them.

Then things started to break, the home button on my iPhone, a knitting needle, and most heart rending of all, my laptop. Yes I am typing this on my iPad with an itty bitty keyboard. At least I have an iPad with a keyboard.

If any thing else breaks, I’m hiding under the bed until July.

Putting things back together

Last week when I was out, my boss was looking for something on my desk. As a result all the piles of papers on my desk were totally messed up, I had no idea where anything was.

Part of this is my fault of course, I should have filed them instead of stacking them on my desk. It happened like this, I got some in and didn’t have time to take care of them. So I put them in a nice little pile, then the next batch came in, and then I started looking at this growing pile of reports that needed to be logged an filed and it was just overwhelming.

Now I get to try to sort through the mess that my boss left, couldn’t even put things back where he found them! In a sense it is a good thing that now I am forced to take care of all this paperwork, and then I have to get back to writing that permit that I have also put off doing.

And the paperwork my boss was looking for? I had given it to somebody else and they had returned it to me, in my mailbox.

>So I thought the bad week was over . . .

>Then I realized I had 1 tampon left. Yes just one, oh if this grosses you out just leave! Come back tomorrow.

So I drove to Target to buy some more. They didn’t have any. I don’t mean they didn’t have any at all, just none of my favorite brand. I was annoyed. So I bought a box of Cheerios. Didn’t want to waste a trip. Then on the way home I swung by CVS.

They had none also. So I had to buy another brand! It was very upsetting and it better never happen again.

>Just say no to Madison Square Garden

>My friend called me to tell me his daughter had given him tickets to Dave Matthews Band at Madison Square Garden, did I want to come with him? So I said yes.

Before I go on, I should tell you I am not a fan of Dave Matthews. In fact I don’t think I have even listened to one song of his. I was just thinking it would be a nice evening out. So this is not a review of the concert. Rather it is a rant against Madison Square Garden.

First of all, the website Madison Square Garden states that it is “The World’s Most Famous Arena” and it is located in Manhattan. Last time I checked, Manhattan is in New York State. As such, it is subject to New York State law, the law that concerns me is “New York State Clean Indoor Air Act”, see the website here. On this website it mentions indoor areas where smoking is prohibited, the exact wording is “The Act states that smoking shall not be permitted and that no person shall smoke in the following indoor areas:”, one of those places is (drumroll please) “All indoor arenas”

In addition to that, on Madison Square Garden’s own website, under “Code of Conduct” it says, and I quote “As required by the City of New York, guests shall not smoke anywhere in our facilities.” and “In compliance with New York City regulations, there is no smoking permitted anywhere in Madison Square Garden. This policy is strictly enforced. Violation of this regulation is grounds for ejection. Furthermore, all exits are final and MSG does not allow for smoking passes.”

I am here to tell you that this is a lie. Like the cake is a lie. The smoke in our section (cigarette and other stuff) was so thick, the following wasn’t necessary:

Guests are encouraged to report inappropriate or offensive behavior to an Usher, Security Officer or Guest Services Representative.

All one had to do was walk inside the seating area and they would have known. Not only that, when we left, (early because for one thing I couldn’t breathe) there were no Ushers, Security Officers in sight, the only person I saw was a vendor, selling crappy beer.

The reason I’m so pissed off about this, I’ve been to Yankee Stadium, which holds 50,000 people and there is no smoking in Yankee Stadium. Its enforced. So if Yankee Stadium can enforce this policy with a lot more people, why can’t Madison Square Garden? Not only that, but Yankee Stadium gives you a number where you can “Text any concerns you have.” Also, our seats were $75 (granted I didn’t pay for it but still) and we were almost touching the ceiling, so you know the seats lower down cost more, on the floor probably a lot more. You would think at those prices they would hire enough people to enforce the non-smoking policy, or at least have a text system like Yankee Stadium does.

This is the end of my rant. It is also the only time I will be at Madison Square Garden.

>So these are my choices

>I could sit up at the picnic tables where there is shade but not much breeze and biting flies, that seem to like the taste of me. Or I can sit on the beach where there a no flies & a breeze but the sand is burning my butt through a beach towel and my shorts and while the sun is not the burning Florida sun it is still rather intense.

Yes I know, I am always finding the good in life.

>Still powerless

>I am sitting in my car, sometime today I remembered that I had a charger for my phone that plugs into my car’s power outlet, so I am charging my phone. Without internet access this is the only way I can reach out to my friends. I am sure some are saying ‘What a whiney brat, why doesn’t she just shut up?’. Those people can just go read another blog, no don’t leave! I’ll be good, I promise.

Even though I can send e-mails to post, I haven’t been able to read anybody elses blogs (and this phone doesn’t have spell check). Em and I are going to the city tomorrow and I will be going to the library to use their computers, but they have a 45 minute limit on the computer and that is nowhere near long enough for what I want to do online.

Well I have to check Facebook, twitter and ditl, then I am turning my phone off so it can charge.

>in other news

>I caught my regular train, so now I have about 2 hours to wait until my doctor’s appointment. Right now I am sitting in Starbucks drinking tea. Somebody just ran by, somebody just ran after him, a chase? More likely they both need the same train so they are running to get a good seat.

Made it to the library after going the wrong way on 5th Avenue. Someday I just might learn my way around. However, as mentioned before, even though I am at a computer I still can’t do the blog posts I had planned since I can’t get to my pictures from here. I have no idea if one can plug a flash drive into these computers, I mean there is a USB port but I don’t know if it is allowed, and I am kind of afraid to ask, since the guy at the desk seemed kind of grumpy. I don’t see anyone else doing it so I doubt it.

On the way to work I went on my phone to my e-mail and asked my father, “Isn’t it time for you to get a new computer so I can have your old one?” Hey, I am not above begging. The other option is no new earring, since I will probably end up having to buy a new laptop myself. Priorities, priorities.

>and I have no clue why since the rest of the house can get online.

Tigger played around with it but couldn’t get it to work either. It’s not even facebook that I care about, it’s not being able to blog, sending blog posts by e-mail from my phone just isn’t the same. Even if I could get online at the library that would not be the same since I can’t post any pictures. I am leaving angry-town and heading for depressedville.

>It’s the little things

>that drive me freaking nuts. Work was a trial today, not horrible just annoying, meetings, e-mails, being griped at, then having to schedule when I was leaving for the person picking me up, who then lost track time leaving me waiting in the cold. When I got home went to jump on the computer and ta-da! Freaking wifi is not working. Something I have no control over, hitting my laptop doesn’t help, nor does bouncing it on the bed.

Then I wonder if anyone realizes how much I hate my life here. How much I need to get out of here before I die. Probably not, and probably don’t care.

>Back to work

>all the snow we were supposed to get did not come, just cold temperatures. Now they (the weather fibbers) are saying Tuesday into Wednesday a snow storm. We shall see, it is my pass day so if there is snow it will not be a big problem for me.

Today was good to start, had a late start but made my train anyway, got to work, signed in went to bathroom everything was great. Got back from bathroom and my boss was in his office! He never gets in that early!

Now I am struggling through this mountain of work while trying to get rid of this headache.
