Went to B&N before getting Stitch last night, and picked up 3 Ann Rule books. Then went online when I got home and ordered 3 more from Pam. They are used and are 1.50 each so that is not so bad. Better than B&N where the 3 books were $25 +.

Detective chief inspector Alan Banks is a walking midlife crisis, full of rage because of his recently failed marriage, a career crippled by a jealous superior, and problems with his son. In less skilled hands, Banks could have quickly become a royal pain, but Robinson makes him instead a very likable character, who is slightly baffled and bemused by his bad luck. When he criticizes his son Brian’s decision to drop out of college to become a rock musician, Banks quickly regrets it–recognizing the same impulses that made him rebel against his own parents, and some of the pain he felt when a college friend died of a drug overdose. The realization that Brian’s heavy-metal band is actually quite good brings genuine pleasure to a man whose idea of rock is Love’s ‘Forever Changes’ and other 1970s delights.

Banks is assigned to work on a case that the Yorkshire police department considers to be somewhat of a joke. The skeleton of a woman wrapped in World War II blackout curtains has been found in a dried-out reservoir. This man-made watering hole was a village–Hobbs End–that had been flooded many years earlier. Through the journal of a major player we realize early on who the dead woman is, but a large part of the fun is watching Banks and an edgy, attractive female cop put the pieces of the puzzle together. ‘In a Dry Season’ is a stylish and gently reflective tale of secrets and lies.

I just copied this review from Amazon.com but I agree with it. I really like the book. I want to just get it out of my work bag and read until I finish it, mainly so I can start the next one, but that would be foolish. I need to go to bed. Stitch wants my car tomorrow so M. wants me to wake him up.

Tre now has my number

Tigger said he prefers texting to Tre because I am boring. Everyone in the family agreed with him. D said people who haven’t met me don’t think I’m boring, I sent Tigger a text that said “Drill bit is my new name.” I guess that is why Tigger asked Tre if I am boring. Tre says how can I know, I don’t know her. So Tigger gives him my phone number. Then he sends me a text, “Hi Im Tre.” So I show it to M. She sends Tre a text message, he sends one back, she asks Tigger, “What does this mean in English?” Tigger says “Laughing my butt off.” He asks her, “What did you say?” She replies, “I told him you were crazy.”

So I never did reply to Tre. I am thinking about sending him a reply, “Hi, I’m Drill Bit.” I think I will wait and see if he sends me another text message.

I took this picture with my cell phone yesterday. I got this sweater from Macy’s on clearance sale.

We used too much chocolate in the cocoa yesterday. M and I put fat free half and half in ours. The kids drank theirs straight. Even Gwen who says she doesn’t like chocolate.

Oh and I downloaded the add-on to make tinyurls. It is pretty fun.

ho hum

So today I took Gwen to Blockbuster, she only spent $30 dollars on photography supplies so she was allowed to get a movie. She got some weirdo movies. I got Water and Waitress. I watched Water. I might buy it, I really liked it. Had a cute guy in it that was also nice. I don’t know when I will watch Waitress. I have the movie for a week, so maybe next weekend. I wish there was a way I could check online when the movies are due like you do with the books from the library.

Anyway, it wasn’t a concert last night it was an opera. Stitch really liked it. It was in Italian so I didn’t understand it, but they had a synopsis in the program so I knew what was going on. The music and singing was very good. During the intermission, M., Stitch, Tigger and I were sending text messages to each other.

Today

M and kids are going to Patterson for tour and lunch. They are having salmon. That is one reason I am not going. I am trying to work up the energy to go work out. It is not easy when Tigger keeps sending me text messages. I really should go. I haven’t formally exercised since Hector was a pup.

I don’t know who Hector is, I just know that is an expression my Mom always said. Or was it M who always said that?

Well, I think I will go now. I am just going to make myself go.

Hi all. I got back from the gym, had a nice time, didn’t have to rush so after my shower put my color stuff on my hair and spray on leave in conditioner and combed it (my hair is so thick and long it takes me 10 minutes to do that). I was getting ready to post here and my friend got home and wanted to go to the mall, so I left with her. First we got manicures. I haven’t had one in so long, I had forgotten how nice my nails look polished. Then we went to the mall and did a little shopping, some walking around, I got some blush at Sephora, she got cooking stuff for her and the little chef at W&S. We stopped for ice cream on the way home, (yes ice cream, it was warm in the ice cream shop) and after dinner she made pumpkin muffins. So that was my day.

Notes from yesterday

Tigger said he would help me, now he is bailing on me.

I wanted to go to Target to check prices on things I found on Amazon.com. Tigger came with me, he wanted to go to Best Buy.

He couldn’t find what he wanted at Best Buy, so he asked to go to Circuit City. I wanted to go home, I told him, I have to get my garbage together and I want to do that before it gets late. He said he would help me. So we went to Circuit City.

When we got home and I said I was going to take care of my garbage, he ran upstairs. I hollered after him, “You said you would help me!” Still no Tigger.

After I got it all in the bag I sent him a text message, “U said u would help me if I took u to Circuit City. I need your help now.” So he came downstairs and put it in the garbage can outside for me.

Quick post

I am very tired and should get to bed. I got about 3 hours last night. I was down 1.4 pounds today, at least, I don’t know exactly because when I look at the scale last week, my eyes stopped at 134.

I am still reading The Woman in White and listening to Salem Falls. I might put WIW aside to read Bliss. It is due back to the library on 1/2/2008. Today I got After You’d Gone. I read some of it. It looks interesting.

M., Gwen and I went to Danbury because M. needed a coat. She finally found one at Sears. It is Lands End. Gwen and I found clothes at Cold Water Creek. A skirt for each of us and I found a purple sweater, and a pair of red slippers. I can know throw away my ‘Toadily Cool’ ones.

Hi all.

BT took that video of Butterscotch. Those are my feet in the flip flops. He thought it was really cool and wanted to watch it on my computer. He thought it took way to long to upload it to my blog though. Maybe so, but it is here so who cares?

I just helped M get a bunch of recipes from a Martha Stewart magazine. She did a lot of magazines, I did one. Then I had to come down here to get away for a minute, the rest on them are playing Monopoly and being really loud. I am listening to Phantom of the Opera (BT put it on my MP3 player) so I won’t hear whenever anyone calls me for dinner but I don’t really care right now.

Friday we saw Arsenic and Old Lace at the BHS theater, it was really good. D went and enjoyed the play but become ‘himself’ during the party after. The party was for cast and box ticket holders. Anyway we didn’t get home until after midnight because we had to clean up after the party.

Yesterday I took Gwen to Allsport and she wanted to get cards for her teachers so I took her to the mall there were lots of people there. All the things I wanted to get at Target they didn’t have. BT and Stitch wanted me to order computer games from Amazon for them. So I added them to my shopping cart and will order them Wednesday when I have money.

Wednesday I am also going to get a bottle of the new Lancôme perfume.

Black Friday

No I did not go shopping today. I did a little online while at work SHHHH don’t tell Albany. I didn’t actually order anything I just put them in my shopping cart. My parts for my CD player should be here sometime next week. That means next Saturday I can get my CD player.

There were a couple of men on the train this afternoon with girls. At first I thought they must have brought their daughters to work with them so their wives could go shopping without them. Then I thought, maybe they are divorced and this is their weekend for their visit and they had to bring their daughters with them to work because they had to work and etc. My mind works in strange mysterious ways.

M and I went to the gym tonight. I need to shower before bed. Right now I am missing Women’s Murder Club but I really want to type this before I forget. I have already forgotten some of what I was going to say.

My weight was up this morning, I didn’t drink enough water yesterday. I think I will drink a bunch before bed so hopefully I will be down in the morning.

I remembered what else I was going to say. I cleaned the fridge at work and was totally grossed out. There was food with mold and food that just looked icky. So I threw it all out. Bob thanked me for doing it. No one that I told I was doing it thought it was bad they all said it was something that had to be done.

Thanksgiving Day

Of course I don’t celebrate this holiday but I am enjoying a day off. Watching Cold Case Files and being online. I ordered the parts for my car finally. I found them on Amazon.

I ordered beads because my Medic Alert bracelet broke. I also sent an e-mail to Medic Alert and I got an answer back that I can send it to them and they will replace it. I think I will order another bracelet so I have a spare in case this happens again, I have no idea how long that will take.

I also ordered beads to make a necklace. Spent a lot of money lately I know. Well I have to go now I am down to half power.

Obviously the plans to see Autumn Rush fell through. I am going to see where it is playing.

MLK day 2007

No work today so I went shopping with M and BT. I bought an MP3 player at Target, but had to return it. I went to Best Buy to get another one, and had to return that one! I got a replacement one at Best Buy, it is charging so I don’t know yet if I will have to replace it. The MP3 player is my 10%, halfway done reward for WW. When I reach goal, I am getting a CD player for my car. And after I have maintained for a year, I am going to get laser surgery on my eyes so I don’t have to wear glasses. Now I am going to post this, turn on the TV and knit.
