>Things I love about NYC

>No not a new feature. Just my observations.

It is Christmas. For the record, I don’t celebrate Christmas. But I love to shop and this time of year is great for shopping, especially in New York. For one thing the holiday fairs. One is in Grand Central Terminal and another is in Bryant Park. At the one in Bryant Park is the booth pictured at right. I don’t know what the name means, but in this booth they are selling bags made from candy wrappers and pages from magazines. I am sure if you went on the website for them (which I haven’t done since I don’t really care) they would explain the whole process.

I bought this little bag, it is the perfect size for my camera and since I just bought a larger pocket book (so I could carry my Sony reader), it fits in there. The only thing I didn’t like, was I was here with Em and there was one in purple. I didn’t have enough money so I didn’t get one, when I came back there were no more purple ones.

There was also this place called Om Aroma & Co., Transform your skin the organic way. Em bought this hand cream that was oh, exquisite.

Another thing I like about shopping in New York at Christmas time is that for me, no parking issues! I also like the lights. They are pretty.

>Ever have a busy day that you didn’t seem to have anything to show for it?

Saturday seems like that, like I was going all day and now I can’t remember what I did. I know I did some shopping and got my hair cut, but what else? Let’s see, trying not delve into minutia of my day. I went to get coffee and apple fritter, then I went to Target, I stopped to get my hair cut after Target I went to Allsport to work out. Before I started to work out I discovered I needed a feminine care product, which I then realized I did not have. I realized this after frantically searching through my gym bag. They have dispensers in the bathroom to buy this product, I put a quarter in and didn’t get anything. So I put everything back into my gym bag and went home to get some. The creepy guy was at the front desk so I didn’t tell anyone about losing a quarter.

Traffic was slow on 52 after I got home and got my ‘personal things’ and was getting ready to leave D said, “You want to go out with 84 the way it is?” I left for two reasons, (1) I was not going on 84, (2) I had to go to Allsport, it wasn’t a choice. But the problem on 84 explains why the traffic was slow on 52, but it wasn’t bad going up to Allsport. Then I remembered I had forgotten to go to Office Depot, I wanted to get something to put my autographed picture in.

Now I know why I was busy all day and feel like I got nothing done, I kept having to backtrack and repeat trips! However I did get everything done that I wanted to get done.

>Check out this blog change

>I started a ‘feature’ called Check out this blog a while back, to see the original post click here.

Now I have to decided to put them in a list in my sidebar. Check it out, since I am so creative I titled it, Check out this blog. The list of blogs at the bottom is old favorites, blogs that I have been reading for a while. I don’t know how long a blog will be on the Check out this blog list before I move it down. I am thinking I will limit the list to 10, and when I get more then 10, I will move some down. The blog The Foxx Loves the Yankees is mine and is (as you probably can guess) about the Yankees and other baseball stuff.

I have some other things to tell you, but it will have to wait until after breakfast.

>Sometimes,

>I am a real dork.

Example No. 1.

I thought I had a scratch on my eyelid. For about a week, give or take a few days, I was putting Vaseline and Neosporin on it, then one morning I was looking at it and said to myself, “That’s not a scratch, that’s eczema!” My doctor told me it would come back with the cold weather. So now I am putting that medicine on it and it is clearing up.

Example No. 2.

I got an e-mail from the Yankee Fan Club that Joe Girardi was going to be signing autographs at the AT&T store in Time Square. So I went there and planned to get an autograph and tell him something, and all I said was “Thank you.” For the full story, complete with pictues you will have to go to my MLB blog The Foxx Loves the Yankees.

>Postcard Friday #48

>In memoriam, 29 long years ago last Tuesday.

Bought this card on a trip to NYC at a bookstore in Grand Central Terminal, Posman Books. I went Tuesday to Strawberry Fields and left flowers.

>Strawberry Fields Forever

>I was having commuting problems this morning, actually starting last night. When I was going home my card wouldn’t swipe. I kept getting this message to ‘swipe card again at this terminal’ when I went to the other terminal to try it I got the message, ‘card was just used’. ARG! so frustrating. Since I didn’t want to wait 15-20 minutes I used my other metro card, the one where I have to pay for each trip.

Then this morning coming into work I was happily plugged into my iPod and after we stopped at Cortlandt they made an announcement. I couldn’t hear what the announcement was but all of a sudden people who had just sat down jumped up. The woman beside me, who had just sat down and gotten out her book, closed it and put it back in her bag. I knew what that meant. Equipment change, we had to change trains at Croton. What a pain. All this time my right eye was bothering me and I had forgotten to put more money in my change purse for the day. So I stopped at the bank on the way into work, after I got to work I took my contact lens solution into the bathroom and took out my contact, rinsed it, looked at it, put it back in. Still hurting, so I took it out again, this time I saw a tiny tear in the contact. So I only had one contact in and was having a hell of a time doing my work.

None of this deterred me from going to Strawberry Fields after work. Em and Tigger were already up there. I stopped and got flowers, Em said they were too pretty to leave, I said, ‘they were cheap.’ She said that was fine, next year for the 30th anniversary I will get roses. There were a lot of people there I won’t hazard a guess how many, but they were all circled around the mosaic singing and playing music so I couldn’t get to the mosaic (I took this picture, just not today). Em said some people were leaving flowers at the plaque so we walked down there, past the pot smokers, someone had a lit a candle and I put my pretty purple flowers there. I forgot my camera so no pictures, besides it was dark by then and I still haven’t found out if the night feature works on my camera. Next trip I promise.

Turned out to be a pretty good day after all, except for the blisters on my toes because I was wearing my boots. I wasn’t expecting to walk all the way to Central Park but when I got to Time Square I couldn’t find the subway because there were too many people (don’t try to figure it out, just smile and wave).

>A borrowed post

>I have some blogs that show up on my iGoogle home page, ‘Brit Gal in the USA’ is one of them. Today I saw the title of her post was Cute and Practical. So I clicked on it and up came this picture of this absolutely adorable tea pot! I want one, just in purple not pink. I know this one is not pink, but the one Brit Gal got is pink, that is why I said purple not pink. Anyway, I am definitely getting one. At least one, I might decide I need two, one for home and one for work.

If you would like a closer look at it you can click on the link to Brit Gal’s post or click here.

>Bedtime

>past bedtime actually. Story of my life, I am doing good if I get to sleep before midnight. Em and I went shopping this morning. I had coupon for Victoria’s Secret that I got when I ordered some things from them. $10 dollars off anything. So she got underwear and I got some sleep tops. You are supposed to wear them with pajama bottoms, but since I never wear the bottoms anyway, well I do, but not always.

We also went to JoAnn Fabrics and I got blue thread to sew on my patch. The patch had sticky stuff on the back, but the sticky stuff is not designed to hold the patch on the clothing you want to put the patch on. It looks very sharp if I do say so myself.

Other then that not much going on today. Em roasted chicken for dinner and baked brownies with sticky chocolate icing.

Rain Rain Go Away

Em and I decided to go to the city today. Trying to make up for last week. She also had a nail appointment. After stopping at Starbucks for yogurt and a cup of tea, we started out. We were extremely early, but Em wanted to see the shops at Bryant Park. First though we stopped at Sephora because we both had coupons.

They had some pretty nice stuff at Bryant Park, this one place had this beautiful Amethyst necklace that I want. Em and I will definitely be back. I want to go when I have some money but after I get my next tattoo. I will be posting a picture when I get it. As Em said, a tattoo is forever but a necklace can get broken or lost.

These are spinners, you hang them up inside or outside and they spin. They are really neat looking. Unfortunately it was a little on the chilly side, and it started raining. D had said it was going to stop, but when I checked the weather forecast, that’s not what it said, and it didn’t. After she was done getting her nails done and we were looking for someplace to get lunch, it was so cold and nasty she asked me if I wanted to head back to GCT and get lunch at Annie Moore’s. I said yes. I was especially glad to leave after the taxi drove through the water so fast I got splashed in my face!
I really wanted pictures of Central Park with snow. It was supposed to snow, but it didn’t. Actually it did start to snow. When we were on the train headed home. **pout**
