Enormous black cat

Last night there was an enormous black cat in my bathroom. She growled at me while I was getting ready for bed. She scared me.

Stitch had this friend Bane. It was too hot for him to stay in his apartment so Stitch brought him here, of course he brought his cat Jaden with him. From the way Stitch talked about her, I thought Jaden was a small cat, when Bane opened the case and this black behemoth jumped out, bigger them both our cats put together I was surprised. She ran down the stairs and went into my bathroom, apparently she decided that is her new home since she hissed at everyone who came in there.

Big hulking scary cat.

Heat wave

We are in the middle of a heat wave. I don’t like the heat. Today it seemed to be slowing the train down, not only that but the A.C. didn’t seem to be working, however it was not blowing out hot air so it was bearable. The car I was on seemed to populated with very loud children. In realty there were only about 2 or 3 of them, but they were really loud. It was very annoying. The mom had an iPhone, the screen was cracked and she didn’t seem to care. I almost cried.

During the day I was e-mailing Em about packing everything and how I kept finding things I had forgotten I had, and that I was ‘pretty lame’. She reminded me I am packing up 22 years of my life. I will get through this, or I’ll have a heart attack and die. Actually if this heat lasts much longer I’ll probably die.

This evening I went on Craig’s list and listed a bunch of stuff to sell. It probably won’t move, but it’s worth a try.

And that’s all, she says.

Signed the lease

One step closer, Monday I signed the lease for my new apartment and paid the first and last months rent. I still have to get the security deposit to them and the real estate agent’s fee, meet the landlord, order a security lock, get the electric and cable in my name and move in.

Whew. Still a lot to do, and not a lot of time.

A rather disturbing development, Con Edison has been reporting power outages in my soon to be new neighborhood. They think due to the heat.

Sigh.

Metro North ~ sigh ~

As I was waiting for the train this morning, I suddenly realized that after I move, I will be able to leave for work an hour later then I am currently.

Going home, having to change trains, which I knew would happen because they put us on an all electric train, and then a child screaming, which normally doesn’t bother me but the electric trains make me motion sick, I thought, this also will not happen.

So I wonder, all these years I have not minded commuting by MetroNorth. Now all of a sudden, it starts to annoy me.

Make a top ten list of things to do this summer. And if you are somewhere in the world where the seasons are different, make a top ten list of things you want to do next season.

1. Go to all the Saturday Yankee Games.
2. Go see the Staten Island Yankees play at Dutchess Stadium.
3. Start looking at apartments in Manhattan.
4. Read more books.
5. Get my Beth Israel hospital bill settled.
6. Get my insurance claim with EVIL Asurion settled.
7. Lose 5 pounds.
8. Exercise more
9. Go swimming.
10. Post everyday.

I noticed that this is not a ‘things you want to get done’ or goals, just things to do this summer. More on the line of summer activities. At least that is how I took it.

Ah spring

That magical time of year when the days get longer and warmer, or at least are supposed to, green grass and flowers start to stick their little plant heads above ground and produce pollen. Sales of Benadryl skyrocket and allergists start to really earn money. Those of us with asthma triggered by our allergies stand around coughing into our jacket cuffs hoping the full blown asthma attack holds off until we find our inhalers, while onlookers wonder if we have the plague.

Yes spring. Spring can bite me.

Should you help homeless people? Whether you should or not, I have. I have donated to coats to the homeless and whenever I see the guys collecting for the outreach services that help the homeless I put money in if I can get to my wallet easily. Sometimes, I will put dollars in my pocket just so I can donate. Especially in the winter.

So while I help them, I don’t give them the money directly. But I do give money to programs that help them.

There are many reasons people may end up homeless and some of the homeless are children, that is my reason for helping.

Nasty rainy Wednesday

It’s been said that a bad day at golf is better then a good day at work. Today would have been a very bad day at golf. It was raining and nasty, cold too. So was it better for me then going to work? Well lets see ….

Lunch was at 12:30 p.m. so I had to get up at 11:00 a.m., so I could go get a latte from the coffee shop. Then I got a free lunch at Panera. I was home when the UPS guy delivered my new Yankee jacket that I ordered from the MLB store, but it was nasty and rainy!

The afternoon was a series of frustrations. While at lunch I got hummus on my shirt so I had to wash it when I got home. Yes even me, the gigantic slob, know you have to wash your clothes when you get food on them. So I got some clothes together and put them in the washer. I started straightening up my room, actually I was looking for something. Anyway, …..

First Fred called, he wanted me to come get him at Ron’s and ‘bring money’. So I did that, of course it wasn’t a quick trip because he wanted ice cream from Ron’s, and not just a quick cone of ice cream, it had to be something that had to be made. When I got home I put my ice cream in the freezer because I had clothes to take care of. First I had to put my dry clothes away, then hang up the wet clothes.

As I started to put away clothes I got a text from Gwen, she needed someone to take her to the laundrymat to dry the towels. So I did that, of course I couldn’t just drop her off, I had to stay with her.

When I finally got home and got done, I got my ice cream out of the freezer to eat it. Of course by then it was dinner time so I got a glare from Em for eating ice cream instead of ‘real food’. I didn’t let it bother me. Would you?

And that’s all, says she. 😛

At Least 54 Dead in Storms Across South

A deadly tornado stretching a mile wide tore through downtown Tuscaloosa, Ala., on Wednesday evening, destroying homes and buildings and bringing further damage to a region already battered by storms.

Across the state, at least 25 people were killed by storms on Wednesday alone, said Valerie Hayes, a spokeswoman for the Alabama Emergency Management Agency. But that number did not include any deaths from Tuscaloosa, where 15 people were confirmed dead by the mayor’s office and 100 were said to be injured, The Tuscaloosa News reported. Earlier in the day, with the damage spreading and the death toll rising, Gov. Robert Bentley declared a state of emergency. And The Associated Press reported that across the South, storms Wednesday killed 11 people in Mississippi, two in Georgia and one in Tennessee.
