I’m back!!

So once again I have become negligent in my blogging and am having to play catch up. It won’t be easy this weekend since I am going to see Green Lantern with Gwen on Friday, going to NYC on Saturday with Em and then going to see the Staten Island Yankees on Monday. Plus the Yankees have no off days coming up.

Tonight I had to type posts on about 4 games that I was behind. Now that I’m caught up there,

My phone is here, I spent all last evening getting my apps loaded and my books downloaded and my music synced. Then I forgot it at home when I went to work. Not only that, I twisted my ankle running to catch the train. I didn’t really hurt my ankle, just scraped the side of it with the strap on my shoe.

Yesterday morning my right eye was completely blood shot. It is still a little bit red but I can’t wear my contacts. Tomorrow I am wearing mascara and eyeliner. Mainly because I don’t think make-up is the cause of this.

Not much else to say. I think I will look a the pictures on my camera to make up for the missing posts.

New music

I just bought two songs from iTunes. I was influenced by Stace at My Brain Hurts.

Unscheduled trip

This weekend Em and D are going to Vermont for a belated anniversary trip. Since this Saturday is normally a Manhattan Saturday she made her nail appointment for today and we met up for dinner.

Actually she spent half the day in Manhattan, doing some shopping and walking and developing some huge blisters on her feet.

We had dinner at Annie Moore’s, complete with scotch for her and bourbon for me. Life is good.

Topic #144:

Make a top ten list of things to do this summer. And if you are somewhere in the world where the seasons are different, make a top ten list of things you want to do next season.

1. Go to all the Saturday Yankee Games.
2. Go see the Staten Island Yankees play at Dutchess Stadium.
3. Start looking at apartments in Manhattan.
4. Read more books.
5. Get my Beth Israel hospital bill settled.
6. Get my insurance claim with EVIL Asurion settled.
7. Lose 5 pounds.
8. Exercise more
9. Go swimming.
10. Post everyday.

I noticed that this is not a ‘things you want to get done’ or goals, just things to do this summer. More on the line of summer activities. At least that is how I took it.

If you have every looked at my sidebars you know that I am on twitter. If you follow me on twitter you know that I don’t tweet as much as some, but I do a fair amount. I ‘tweet’ with a lot of Yankee fans from all over the world.

One of them is in New York, whether for business or a vacation I haven’t been able to determine, I think it might be a little of both. He has been going to the Yankee games and Saturday I tried to meet with him, I was standing in the aisle yelling and waving and he and another Yankee fan I know from twitter didn’t hear me. For the rest of the evening I was harassing him, accusing him of ignoring me.

Today when I asked him what was up, he said, I have no plans want to meet? I sent him the address of the bar/pub near my office and he met me there, where we ate and chatted and had a generally good time.

He left his hat at the restaurant, I started teasing again that I had stolen his hat because I was a creepy stalker. He also has a really sweet Honda motorcycle.

So this is not the first person I have met through twitter but I have to say this is probably the most effort someone has put forth to meet me. Kind of amazing when the only communication we have had has been on Facebook and Twitter.

Its nice meeting new people, of course one needs to be careful, you never know when someone might really be a creepy stalker.

Normally I would write about and put some pictures up, but with the connection problems I am having, I am behind on my Yankee blogging.

We were there for the whole day, Em and the boys got manicures. I took some spring pictures of Bryant Park, I will post them later. We went down to see Ashley and had some lunch with a Groupon. The place was just O.K., they didn’t fix Tigger or my burgers right and I got a stomach ache because they had dressing on mine.

The boys went to the train to go home, Em was very nervous, but they got on the train like they were supposed to. When Em asked Tigger if he could find it all right, he held up his smartphone. “Mom I have GPS.”

Em and I went to the game and watched the Yankees beat the Mets, yay yay yay.

And that is all, says she.

Spending the day in the city is always nice, we got a late start since the only thing planned, that we had a definite time for was the baseball game.

Em needed to get her ears checked, she mentioned to Ashley that I had a new hole and she was jealous. Ashley said she was going to make a rule that we had to come in together only. To avoid fighting I guess. We had lunch at a place called Corner Shop around the corner from the jewelry store where Ashley works. It was kind of a health food, organic food type of cozy little restaurant, omelets with mushrooms and spinach, breakfast burritos wrapped with whole wheat tortillas and chicken sausage. Good tasty food.

So then we took the subway up to Yankee Stadium for the ball game. Yankees lost, there was extra drama regarding one of the players. And we were sitting next to a section full of RedSox fans. When I got home I was so tired, that is why I am writing this on Sunday instead of Saturday evening.

Because I wrote about her blog. My motive was not to get a pat on the back, the suggestion was write a post about a blog you enjoy and that is what I did. To read what she wrote in her thanks to me, made me smile, gave me a goofy grin. It brightened her day.

Many times I don’t say anything when someone is down, I am afraid I will say the wrong thing and make them feel worse. Or maybe be taken as a platitude because all I can up with is what everyone else has already said. Unlike a friend who can be there, when the only place you know someone is online, how can you be there for them? Some have extended their figurative hand by putting out their e-mail, by letting people contact them through personal messages on Twitter and FaceBook. I also hesitate before taking that step.

It’s not from a lack of caring, it the result of extending my hand and getting it slapped. I understand that when people are hurting they may not want or be able to push someone away gently, it still hurts. I get hurt, then I feel guilty. Once again I have done the wrong thing and hurt someone I wanted to help. Just like saying the wrong thing can hurt, saying nothing can also hurt. Which begs the question, which hurts more? Is it better to err on being considered thoughtless, or being considered a bumbling fool?

Topic #123: Pick a blog or blog post you enjoy and write a post about it.

This is a blog I enjoy, This Space For Rent Call 1-800-BITE ME, this is the Blogger that turned me on to “Postaday2011”. We encourage each other, well, she encourages me, I don’t know if I encourage her but I try.

My first introduction to Stacey was on Twitter, when I got put on lists of Yankee fans, then I followed her links to her blog. It is a mix of things, she writes about being bipolar, being a Yankee fan (like me!), sometimes she posts fiction she has written, sometime a collection of random thoughts. It’s always interesting.

My interest in reading about being bipolar is personal, my best friend in the whole wide world has two children who have been diagnosed with bipolar disorder and so I like to read about other people with the same disorder, perhaps in the hope that I can be a better ‘Auntie’ to her kids. Stacey’s blog is very helpful because she is very honest in it. She is very brave to put herself out there like that. I hope someday we get to meet. Except a part of me is afraid she won’t like me. There is my little insecurity showing.

So check out her blog, and that’s all, says she.

A work of art

New York State has an inspection program, all vehicles registered in New York have to have a safety inspection and an emissions inspection every 12 months. My car is due for its inspection in April. A fact I was reminded of when I went through a check point on Tuesday. I went through it twice once on the way to my doctor and then on the way back. I guess the police in my town don’t have anything better to do on Tuesday afternoon.

During the winter, a snow plow broke my driver’s side mirror. This would cause my car to fail the inspection. I had told the boy to take car of it, and he didn’t, so this week I was scrambling to find a mirror. There were mirrors available online but I was worried I wouldn’t get in time. So I called the local auto parts store, they said they could get it, to be delivered to their store the next day.

The boys went to get it since the store closes before I get home. I got a text from Stitch, “The mirror is black not silver hahahaha”. There was no way I could get another one before the end of the month. His response to that was “Ok. So itll just look funny. Very funny. Lol funny.” “Gives the car spunkiness”

So the car is now unique, I was driving with Gwen and going “It’s black! It’s black!” She grinned at me. “Amy says she is a work of art.” Good way to look at it.

And that’s all, says she.
