Wearing of the GREEN

Is not part of the plan today. It never is, since I don’t observe holidays. And the more I don’t, the more I don’t like them.

Take today, St. Paddy’s Day or St. Patrick’s Day whatever you like to call it. What exactly is its purpose? Em says Irish Catholics make a huge deal of it. They go to church, they get together with the family, have dinner etc. Yet for the rest of people it is just an excuse to wear green, go to a parade, get totally wasted and bug me on the train. Well I suppose not all of them want to bug me on the train, but the girl who patted my breast? Yeah, that bugged me.

But seriously, does anyone really remember who St. Patrick was and what he did for the Irish people? Or what the legend says he did? I seem to recall a story about snakes. Is anyone else bothered by the fact that this supposedly historic and important act has been turned into a joke? An excuse to get drunk and be rowdy? Exactly how many of these people, wearing green, dying their mustaches and hair green or red, drinking beer, how many of them are really Irish? I’m not Irish, I’m Spanish and English, two nationalities not exactly known for good relations with the Irish. Another reason for me not to wear green, it would be hypocritical.

Not that I have anything against the Irish, this rant is not against them. Just against March 17.

That is all, she says.

Plugged in and tuned out

Today when I got back from lunch one of my co-workers walked into the building before me. As he held the door he was smiling and commented that I was ‘in my own little world.’

Yes I was, just me and the Flobots, or maybe the Foo Fighters. It has to be an F group, I’ve been listening to my F playlist for days. I was plugged into my iPod and tuned out from the world.

This is why the personal safety experts say not to wear headphones or ear buds while running. Because you can’t hear when the serial killer sneaks up behind you to grab your 25 year old, 5’2″, 125 pound body and throw it in his white panel van. Or is the pedophiles that have the white panel van?

Well anyway, the jokes on them because I weigh 136 and am not even in my 20’s. They do check I.D.s don’t they?

Why?

These are my socks, it may not be visible in this picture, but they are in a plastic resealable bag, like a ziplock bag. Why? Are they afraid the socks will go stale? By the way, that’s a medium in GIRL’S socks.

Another why question I have is, WHY did Splenda® stop making the SPLENDA® No Calorie Sweetener, Flavors for Coffee in Cinnamon Swirl? It’s available in French Vanilla, Mocha and Hazelnut, but no Cinnamon Swirl. That stuff was great on oatmeal.

When I first had the idea for this post I was also going to include Special K20™ Protein Water Mixes, my favorite is Strawberry Kiwi Protein Water Mix. Besides being yummy it has 5 grams of protein and 5 grams of fiber, but as I was wandering around the grocery store, because I didn’t want to say, you can’t find it or they don’t make out without checking it out first, there was the Protein Water Mix in the diet aisle of my local grocery store.

Also on my list was flavored instant coffee, I mean besides Starbucks, can you find it? And there in the coffee aisle was Nescafé® Taster’s Choice® in Vanilla and Hazelnut. I took pictures, but I must have deleted them. These are from the website.

This post was originally conceived as being full of questions about missing grocery items and how it seems that as soon as I start to really love something, it disappears. Instead with a little searching I found one of the items. The cinnamon swirl Splenda® is not even on their website. So there are only two questions. I will have to console myself with a bottle of Stawberry Kiwi Protein Water.

I’m Posting every day in 2011!

So I guess this makes it official, the following is a sample post that WordPress provides for you to sign up with the post a day.

I’ve decided I want to blog more. Rather than just thinking about doing it, I’m starting right now. I will be posting on this blog once a day for all of 2011.

I know it won’t be easy, but it might be fun, inspiring, awesome and wonderful. Therefore I’m promising to make use of The DailyPost, and the community of other bloggers with similiar goals, to help me along the way, including asking for help when I need it and encouraging others when I can.

If you already read my blog, I hope you’ll encourage me with comments and likes, and good will along the way.

Signed,

If you go to the DailyPost, there is a question, I don’t know if you are supposed to use that as an idea for your own blog post or if they just want you to comment and answer.

However, they provide you with a nifty badge, scroll down and you can see mine (I just got the right one in, I had the Postaweek one on there and my posts with now be tagged with “postaday2011”. Now that is it official, the pressure is on!

Good-bye February

This is how the month ends, with me scrambling to get one last post in before midnight. And you know what? I made it. I’m just going to post some random thoughts. Some may be disturbing.

Lawyer: California pair admit kidnapping Jaycee Dugard for 18 years You have probably heard about this case, if you haven’t (like perhaps you have been living under a rock) a brief recap. When Jaycee Dugard was 11 years old she was snatched from the street in front of her home in South Lake Tahoe, California. Authorities say the Garridos held Dugard in a hidden compound behind their home for 18 years. This Lawyer, who is the lawyer for the the wife not the husband, says they have made full confessions to this crime, but at this time have not offered any pleas. Of the woman the lawyer says: that it is “a classic example of really lousy taste in men,”. UGGG, I hate lawyers.

Most of the time I am a little excited and nervous and anxious for my move. Other days, I just can’t wait to get out of this house! Today was one of those days.

My VACW is leaving. He got a job offer in Montana. I am devastated (now where is that sarcasm font?) So now I can talk about him. Natter Natter Natter. I don’t thing I could have taken another year of him coming over every day for the game score and then listening to him tell me how much the Yankees suck this year. I would have committed a felony (as in I would have fucking killed him).

Nothing you would really notice though, I just made a few little changes to my widgets. I now can see how many posts I have made in a month and I am only 3 post behind for February. That is one of the reasons I decided to pop on here and make another entry.

Now comes the really tough part of the year, when I’m trying to blog here and blog on my Yankee blog. I also need to keep up with my book review blog. Its going to take some juggling and some discipline, and less time on twitter I think. I also think I can do it.

Since I switched to WordPress I haven’t been blogging much, although I have been around. I have been going through old posts and cleaning them up. I noticed that the titles and first space in the post now had a > and I have been going through posts and taking it out. I had no idea how long that would take with 1,200 posts. I was working on it for two solid days and still had over a thousand posts to go.

So then I started just redoing the ones with pictures, cause the importing caused the pictures to get a little whacked out. Not formatted right and in some cases not there, I had to find them on my passport and reinsert them. Even doing that I still am only to August 2008.

Something else I am doing is moving my poems to my craft blog and my reviews to my review blog. The poem posts are being deleted but the review posts normally have more in them then just the review, so now I have duplicate review posts. I sometimes wonder why I am going to all this trouble when most people are not going to be reading the old posts (except for my freaky stalker person). The answer of course if because I have a compulsion, my posts have to look the way I want them to. That is all.

Another thing I was reminded of when I was reading my old posts was why I started this blog. I wanted a place to talk about my weight watchers progress. I was online and the message boards can be, well, kind of snarky. Here on my blog, if someone said something I didn’t like, I could just delete it. Anyway, I am going to start that again. This weigh-in I was 139 pounds. That is up 3 from my last weigh-in. I haven’t been tracking my food, I haven’t been exercising and I haven’t been drinking my water. So, time to buckle down and lose the weight.

Laundry again

My gray coat is the wrong shade of gray. I thought I was getting a color that wouldn’t show the dirt. I was wrong, it is too light of a gray. This is the third time this winter I have had to wash it, which means bringing it to the laundry to dry the coat. It takes a long time since on delicate the washer doesn’t spin the clothes at full force. Of course I also don’t want to dry it on high because I don’t want it ruined.

All this means that I have to schedule my coat washing time carefully since I can’t wear the coat till it’s dry and the dryer doesn’t get it completely dry. Today I bought a other coat. It was on sale and it’s a very pretty dark burgundy color. I wonder if it will show the dirt.

In preparation for the big move, because I don’t want to take a lot of useless junk, I am going through everything. Throwing things out like crazy. So all day Saturday that is what Gwen and I did.

We took a break to go to Sonic and then Borders, she checked her e-mail when we were at Sonic, (free wi-fi!) the Borders near us is closing, or has closed by now, and everything was on sale. I bought a couple of note books. One with a really pretty red rose on the front, two aluminum water bottles and Gwen got some DVD’s and notebooks. Two didn’t have prices on them so the clerk just said, “They’re yours.” and put them in the bag. Then we went up to Barnes and Noble, the cafe was closed and I hadn’t had any coffee yet. We also bought a couple things there.

Then it was back to cleaning, then after we were done throwing things out, I got to put the things I am keeping away. Of course now it is a lot easier.

Next weekend I will be cleaning another spot in my room.
