Just another rainy day in NYC

Em had her nail appointment so we went. I overslept so I caught a later train. While she was getting her nails done I went to the crocs store, my old crocs needed replacing, and while they didn’t have the same style this style will do. The colored strip on the shoe is sort of a magenta. I don’t really like it, but it seems to be popular right now. My sketchers are black with magenta accent. It was cold and it was raining, maybe it felt so cold because of the rain, I took 20 pictures of ‘Broken Umbrellas’. Hopefully they will be up on ‘Better off soaked‘. At least some of them, I don’t expect all 20 of them to be up. I took them with my phone, since I am getting a new one next month. Cell phones don’t like the rain and eventually it quit on me. By then Em had met me for lunch at Connolly’s Pub and Restaurant on 45th and 6th. They had TV’s on in the pub, 4 on a basketball game, or different games, and one on a hockey game. WTF? I want to see baseball!

We had planned to go to Maria Tash since my ear is hurting, but decided it was too wet and left the pub, made a brief stop at Sephora and caught the early train home. So much for exploring, my jeans were soaked up to my thighs, my heavy outer jacket was soaked, my thin denim jacket was wet in spots, and my top had some wet spots on it. As soon as I got home, all the wet things came off and got hung up to dry.

When my Dad sent my this laptop he installed Skype on it. I decided to try it out this evening and call him. As we were talking a thing popped up that I could click to take a picture, so I did. No this is not my Dad, this is my Mom, HI MOM! The elbow next to her head is my dad’s elbow. What you don’t see is a little picture of me, in the video screen in the corner there is a little picture of me, so I can see what they are seeing. Gwen came in while we were talking and said hi, for a little bit. Then we hung up. Technology can be great sometimes. When it gets waterlogged, not so good. But my phone did dry out, and my ear is not hurting so bad, I think it was just a little irritated. Nothing to really worry about.

>I am typing another blog post. I also upgraded my setting and want to see how they work.

First of all, I thought I had told you about my last piercing. It was on our last trip to the city. The one we made when we had no power at home. I was going to title it, ‘Getting the HELL out of Dodge’. By the number of people at the train station it appeared we were not the only ones with that thought. The snow was very pretty, but heavy, the trees branches were bending under the weight. While Em was getting her nails done I went to the library, the big one this time and used their computer to go on-line. I even typed a blog post. I wanted to stay there all day, it was warm and the rooms are filled with books. I also learned something. People don’t go to this library to get books. They go to do research, to go online, take tours and take pictures. Isn’t that interesting?

When Em was done with her nails I had to leave. I had planned and saved for my cartilage piercing. So we trekked down to Maria Tash to get it done. Ashley and I had been tweeting each other so she was expecting me. This is the not spot I wanted to have pierced, but I decided to go with her suggestion, she is the professional, I was actually thinking about getting my Tash Rook pierced, but I decided to go with the cartilage. Blue diamond for the Yankees.

Well, now that I have talked about the concert and Manhattan, I will take a break.

>Short post

>I had a great post in mind, it is gone, I am so tired just a few updates.

The Governor might not make it to the end of his term. We are taking bets on him leaving office in a box or handcuffs.

I updated the picture in my sidebar to show off my new piercing.

I got my replacement shoes and they are the same color as the shoes I returned.

My new computer came, the boy tested it out, installed iTunes and set up the wifi. And all he asks in return is some Skittles …. and an iTunes card …. and a new bluetooth. Well I guess since I didn’t have to pay for the computer

I can’t think what else. Good-night.

Told a little lie

If you look at my sidebar you will see the picture I have posted here and underneath the caption, “Count ’em! 1 ~ 2 ~ 3 ~ 4; No more piercing! If you have been reading this blog you may have got the impression I have decided to add one more earring to the collection. I know I mentioned it on Twitter. So the No More Piercing was a lie. At the time I wrote that, that was my intention. However, I will still have the same number of piercings.

The reason for that is, I had to take one of the earrings out. Not in this ear, in my other ear, the deformed ear that I don’t let show. Its not horribly deformed, I mean it still looks like an ear, but I am rather self-conscious about it. Anyway, Monday I removed the fourth earring from the other ear, it hasn’t healed, hurts when it gets bumped (being that it is winter and my coat has a high collar it gets bumped a lot) and I haven’t been able to wear a hat over my ears all winter. Not only that, but it is closer to the 3rd hole then the 4th hole in my right ear, so they are uneven.

You can imagine how annoyed that makes me.

What was I saying?

I have this thing where I feel I need to write things in sequential order. For example, I don’t want to blog about Monday before I blog about the weekend. Not that anything exciting happened either time. Just that my thoughts about Monday have to come after my thoughts about the weekend. Which is kind of stupid, I think, but I still have a problem with it. I could always blog about my weekend now in this e-mail post, but I had pictures to go with it. Not special pictures, just of the mountain and the clouds.

Last night I was going to post the pictures and everything, but I won an award on my other blog so I had to take care of that. Acceptance speech, where to send the money, who to invite to the ceremony, I kid. After I did all that is involved in a blog award it was late and I had to check my messages and then had to reply. There are some people I drop everything to reply to. There are others … well you know. It’ll be a cold day in ….
On Saturday Em and I ordered tires for Amy. Stitch has been having to put air in one of the tires every other day, or every third day, I forget. So the tires are ordered and when they come in he can take the car and get the tires put on. Then we went to Danbury since she wanted to go to Sephora. Of course that is a dangerous place to go for me, I now want some glitter eyeshadow from Urban Decay. I put some on and it looked so cool. OK I now have my happenings out of order, I will just have to deal.
On the way to Danbury she told me D has decided on surgery rather then radiation treatments. Actually she told me Friday, in a text message, in her text message she said, “If momma ain’t happy, nobody’s happy”. Saturday she told me, ‘D told the kids last night he was having surgery.’ It is scheduled for May 4 which coincidentally is the day before their anniversary. I’m guessing, (and this is just a guess, based on previous conversations with her) that when she told him that if he got his parts irradiated, there would be no sex until the radiation was out of his system, he started leaning toward surgery. Sometimes, men are so easy. When they are not being freakin’ idiots that is.
There was more I was going to say, it has departed the brain. Yesterday morning I was 135.8, so I am happy happy. 20 pounds to go to my goal goal, .8 to my first goal. With a little bit to lose, I celebrate every 5 pounds.

>Another day but not just another day

>Today Tigger has an appointment with a doctor in the city. The last doctor he went to see for his ‘mysterious’ illness suggested Chronic Fatigue Syndrome. Em decided she would find a doctor in the city. I didn’t ask, but she is probably thinking that if he ends up having to go to this doctor long term, this way she won’t have to change his doctor. Kind of what I’m doing with my doctor’s.

In other news, after taking my piercing money (o.k. He didn’t really TAKE it, just talked me out of it) Tigger ordered the wrong ram, so now he has to order the right ram, which of course is more expensive.

Em and I are going to see Rob Thomas talk about music in April, in March we are going to see Five For Fighting. We might be taking Fred since he started doing his homework when offered the reward of a concert.

And the last thing I want to say is 14 days till pitchers and catchers report for Spring Training.

Last Saturday

Em and I went to the city. Normally we go down together, but this time we didn’t. Em likes to be on the train platform 20 minutes before the train arrives. I am content to be there 20 seconds before the train arrive. How have we managed to stay friends so long? **shrugs**

She went down first because she had to be there for her nail appointment. I get mine done on Friday evenings normally, yesterday I went early because of going to see the movie. That will be in a later post. I wonder if I can do 10 posts today? I went down on the next train and stopped at Sephora (looking for new perfume) before going to the nail salon to see how much longer she would be. I also stopped at a discount fragrance store. They didn’t have the perfume I was looking for.

It was an absolutely gorgeous day, to pretty to stay at the salon and wait for her, so I went to Bryant Park. It is pretty near the salon and Em said she wanted to go to Central Park after her appointment. I couldn’t decide if this man was (a) people watching, (b) waiting for someone or (c) guarding the park entrance. I came in a different way so if he was guarding the entrance, I managed to slip past him.

There was ice skating at the park so I watched the skaters for a while, then Em showed up and we went to Central Park. You can see how bright and clear the sky was, the temperature was above freezing but the ponds were still partially frozen. We both had our cameras. I had my little one and Em had her nice one and we were both taking pictures of the ice. In my sidebar is a slideshow with all the pictures I took.

Walking around looking at the ice on the ponds reminded me of the very first time I visited Central Park. It was also the very first time I was ever in New York, city or state. D and Em were living in Brooklyn and I was living in Florida (I grew up in Florida, remember that for the trivia contest), I had come up to visit them, it was November. Being from Florida I of course was not used to cold and did not have proper clothing. Em loaned me a coat and took me shopping for boots. We went to Central Park with a friend of theirs, a very nice young man named Andy. I took a picture of him, but I have no idea where it is now, if it even still exists. We took a carriage ride. I don’t remember much about it, just that we took one. We bought doughnuts and threw them on the ice for the ducks. Yes I know, I KNOW. I used most of my roll of film (pre-digital camera days) trying to get a picture of the ducks landing on the ice. They were coming in to land on the ice to eat the doughnuts, and sliding and falling on their beaks. It was so funny and I wanted a picture of it. I didn’t get one. Anyway, that is what walking around the park last Saturday looking at the frozen ponds made me think of, and I haven’t thought of that in years. I wonder which one of my many albums the pictures are in.

We went to a new restaurant for dinner. I don’t know where Em finds these places. The restaurant is called Rothmann’s NYC and was very nice. Not super fancy (I mean, they had a TV in the bar with the game on!) but very nice. A place you can dress up to go to but you don’t have to be in super formal clothes (I was wearing jeans). So we each had a drink, Em got a salad and we split a steak. She got dessert and I got a second drink, however, the dessert was big enough to share (hear me laughing at how clever I was?).

All in all, another great day in the city.

>Concert today

>Ugg, what a morning, woke up with a headache and stomach ache (probably from the wheat toast I had last night, dummy) my eye feels like it has something in it, there was cat puke in front of the bathroom door (just what you want to see when you have to pee) and worst of all, I had a dream that I washed my hair and all the color washed out because the stylist had used the wrong stuff. I had gray hair! As Em says, that is a nightmare.

Yesterday evening I kept thinking I needed something at Target but couldn’t remember, until after I had my bath and it was too late to go up. This morning I have no car since I am being nice and let Stitch take it so he wouldn’t have to drive Em’s van. So I am sitting here cold and needing to go to the bathroom (again!) and telling myself to get out of bed and get some breakfast!

Tonight is the concert. I have my ticket in my purse, need to put my GPS in my purse also, need to put my earrings in so I don’t forget them too. So much to do and only 4 hours to do it.

>Getting ready for Friday

>was what I did yesterday, first I went to Kingston to give them $200 for the fine privilege of speeding through their city. That done I decided to do some shopping to see if I could find a new top for Friday, I didn’t, so I bought a new pair of earrings. Shhh! Don’t tell anyone. Then I went to get my hair done, can’t go to a rock concert with gray roots. I also went to Allsport, that wasn’t for the concert, that was for my own personal health. Now I just have to decide what to wear tomorrow.

Also, I decided that I am not going to get anymore piercings, since I have 9, like the players on the baseball diamond.

>Had kind of a busy Saturday

>Ever have a busy day that you didn’t seem to have anything to show for it?

Saturday seems like that, like I was going all day and now I can’t remember what I did. I know I did some shopping and got my hair cut, but what else? Let’s see, trying not delve into minutia of my day. I went to get coffee and apple fritter, then I went to Target, I stopped to get my hair cut after Target I went to Allsport to work out. Before I started to work out I discovered I needed a feminine care product, which I then realized I did not have. I realized this after frantically searching through my gym bag. They have dispensers in the bathroom to buy this product, I put a quarter in and didn’t get anything. So I put everything back into my gym bag and went home to get some. The creepy guy was at the front desk so I didn’t tell anyone about losing a quarter.

Traffic was slow on 52 after I got home and got my ‘personal things’ and was getting ready to leave D said, “You want to go out with 84 the way it is?” I left for two reasons, (1) I was not going on 84, (2) I had to go to Allsport, it wasn’t a choice. But the problem on 84 explains why the traffic was slow on 52, but it wasn’t bad going up to Allsport. Then I remembered I had forgotten to go to Office Depot, I wanted to get something to put my autographed picture in.

Now I know why I was busy all day and feel like I got nothing done, I kept having to backtrack and repeat trips! However I did get everything done that I wanted to get done.
