>So anyway

>after all that posting about not posting and how I was getting back to it . . .

Wednesday Em and I came to the city. She took the day off, and it was my RDO. She had an appointment to get her nails done, I wanted to look for shorts. Been looking for a new pair for a while. The main problem is I don’t want to pay $30 for shorts.

After Em got her nails done we walked down Broadway, there was a store I wanted to go to. We stopped for lunch at another chocolate place we found. The food was great, Em got a burger and I got a vege-burger which was pretty good. Then we shared dessert, it was a monster sundae, so big we couldn’t eat it all.

We then continued our trek down Broadway to our destination, Maria Tash where I got another piercing. I took a picture but it didn’t turn out, I will have to take another one, except I don’t know if I want my not quite flat abs displayed. That should tell you what I got pierced. Em had to get another pair of shoes, her feet are now horribly blistered.

Thursday I got my nails done, but I will have to post about that later. I took notes though, I will just have to type up what I wrote in my journal.

Yes, I really got this postcard from a friend on vacation. I have some weird friends.

She called me ‘Weirdo’, takes one to know one!

>The Yankees Win!

>I went to my first ever Yankee game yesterday, in the NEW Yankee stadium. We were way up top, the cheap seats you know. It wasn’t too bad, we had a roof over our head, which meant we were in shade and I had my little binoculars, which actually are pretty powerfull, I was able to see that the police officers on the field were not that cute. Not like my man Derek.

Anyway, it was fun, Cano and A-Rod got home runs, which was exciting. I jumped up and screamed and shook my … well you get the picture. My ticket is glued in my album now and I bought a keyring. I am going to get earrings from the MLB website, they are pretty little things and if I ever go to another game, shoot, if I watch a game at home on TV, I’m going to wear them. I will even wear them to visit my mom! She hates the Yankees.

I will end this post with a picture of my favorite Yankee of all time. May he rest in peace.

Behold! The Wonder’s of China! OK this isn’t really China, Em and Stitch were in Florida and went to Disney World. Specifically this is from Epcot Center.

I don’t remember this trip, it was in 1993, that means that Stitch, Gwen and Tigger were around, it would have been the 4of them, that’s why she said “M & entourage’. Em probably had just gone to visit her parents.

>The best laid plans

>Friday morning we (Em, Tigger, Fred and me) planned to go down to the Today Show to see the Fray. I opened my E-mail Thursday when I got back from getting my hair done to see the following e-mail.

TODAY Show Concert Postponement ~ THE FRAY

Concert Postponement: THE FRAY

It is with sincere apologies that the TODAY Show announces the postponement of The Fray performance, scheduled for Friday, June 26th, due to the death of Michael Jackson.

I was very upset, when I first saw this, got as far as due to the death of and thought someone from the Fray had died. Then I got mad that because that creepy little freak had died, I wasn’t going to get to see the Fray.

That may seem like a cold response to hearing that someone had died, I am not really like that. I was upset when I heard that Ed McMahon and Farrah Fawcett died, I feel no such thing for Michael Jackson.

Back to Friday. We still went down to the city, just not as early and we didn’t go to the plaza. We did go to the Top of the Rock, since Fred had never been. It started to rain so Em and I went inside, the boys stayed outside and kept taking pictures. Em said, “My children are morons.” After we left Rockefeller Center we bought 2 umbrellas from a street vendor, then walked up to Central Park. We were just walking around, Em wanted to show Fred the Chess & Checkers House (mid-Park at 64th Street), when we got up there I started sneezing and wheezing. I told Em I had to leave there was something there I was allergic to. As we walked back down the stairs, Fred said, “Maybe these purple flowers?” I said, “No smells like white flowers.” Em turned to me with a grin, “I was going to say the same thing!” I can’t explain it, but years dealing with allergies has given me the ability to smell the color of flowers.

Leaving Central Park we went to Cafe Frida, but they weren’t open yet. So we walked to the Crocs store. Fred’s feet were really bothering him and he wanted sandals. After lunch we went to Maria Tash, by subway (can you believe it? Em went on the subway!) so I could get my ears pierced. This isn’t a great pic, I took it right after I left the piercing spa. My ears were still swollen and red.

This is another postcard sent me by a friend on vacation. This was a girl from my church who is the same age as me. She went on to marry Em’s brother.

I don’t know why I blocked out my address, since no one in my family even lives in the state of Florida any more. Just habit I guess. One interesting fact, if you look at the dates, she mailed this on August 3rd, I received it on August 23rd. In fact, I called her and said, “Guess what? I got the postcard you sent me from Spain today.”

This is a fun Meme. I first saw it on Daryl’s blog. She encouraged me to join so I did. I was going to post my postcards in order I received them, but looking through them I realized they weren’t in order. So I just decided to mix them up.

I entered a read a fest, which included a drawing for free books and I won a book and a shirt, this postcard was in the book. This is the ‘college’ featured in the book.

And this is the back of the card. This is the book I won and Kristi (as if you couldn’t tell) is the main character in the book. I really like Lisa Jackson’s books and am looking forward to reading this one.

>Finally

>Our Trip to NYC June 6-7, 2009.

Yes I am finally getting around to it. If you scroll down you can see a collage of all the pictures we took. If you scroll farther down you can see a slide show of all the pictures. I have decided to do most of the posting with the pictures I took. In between the pictures I will post the notes I made at the time.

We caught the 6:50, originally Em told me the 5:50, so Gwen and I were up an hour early. At the train station we met some friends, they were going for a special program at the Met (I think). Anyway we all sat in the same car so I took these pics.

I don’t know everyone in these pictures, some are friends, some are friends of friends. But they were all willing to smile for the camera.

We stayed on the Hotel Pennsylvania (note to self, don’t stay here again, not bad-not good either), it is across from Penn Station and Madison Square Gardens. I never found out why there were two fire engines and an ambulance in front of Penn Station with their emergency lights flashing.

Next to Madison Square Garden is a Borders. I went in there, I was trying to find something to do while waiting for Em. From the coffee shop I got this great view. Now as for the other picture, I don’t noramlly take pictures in the toilet but I just couldn’t resist, the sticker says: Hygienic Liner for Fitting Purposes. I was not aware Borders sold anything that needed a Hygienic Liner. I stayed in the coffee shop while Em and I sent text messages to each other to see when we needed to meet up. She wanted me to find out where there was a street fair. As if I would know. My handy dandy Glyde came to my rescue, I googled and I found this website: Schedule New York City Street Fairs and Festivals, on that site I found, ‘Stuyvesant Park Neighborhood 2nd Ave. Fair (on 2nd Ave from 14th to 23rd Streets. I sent Em the info and started toward it. I walked down Madison, Madison and 23rd Street is where Madison Square Park is and that is where the Shake Shack is so I got a shake on my way to the street fair. When I got there, the fair was just setting up, so I was able to wander around and look at things without a lot of people around which I liked. I also liked walking down the middle of the street.

Em bought a few things, I bought a purple New York City tee-shirt and a pearl necklace. We had lunch, I don’t remember where and headed back to the nail salon so Em could get her nails done. Then back to the hotel to get Gwen and go to dinner and the cruise. We were going to have dinner at Cafe Frida, but it was too far for Gwen to walk, her feet were starting to hurt her. So we stopped for dinner, then stopped to get something for her shoes, they worked and she was able to walk.

Intrepid Museum Ship, our ship, Em and Gwen, Barbie’s Limo. Well, who else would have a bright pink limo?

Gwen and I both took pictures on the cruise. She was using my camera because the battery on Em’s was almost dead. This trip I had decided to take pictures of everything I haven’t before, since I’d never been on a Circle Line cruise before, everything we saw was new. We went up the East River and then back to the Statue of Liberty so we saw her at sunset. We saw the Chinese Consulate, Javitz Building, Empire State Building, Greenich Village and I think we went where the plane landed in the Hudson. Click on the slide show and you can look at them all. On the way back to the hotel after the cruise, we stopped at Pinkberry for frozen yogurt. Sunday’s fun will be in the next post.

>Collage

>
These are all the pictures I took, I used Picasa 3 and made a collage. Isn’t it cool? O.K. Maybe not.

I first saw this fun Meme on Daryl’s blog. She encouraged me to join so here is my first Postcard Friendship Friday.

This was sent to me by a lady in my church. She had gone to Canada to attend a religious convention. I don’t remember her going, I do remember her. You can see the year was 1972, and I was living in Washington State at the time.

I wanted the first postcard I posted to be the oldest one I had, which my Grannie sent me from Italy, but it wasn’t in my keepsake box. I will be very upset if it is gone. I don’t have many things from my Granny.
