I really need

to start posting again. I mean really posting, not just the crap I’ve putting out lately. Well except for the Postcards. That’s not crap.

Sunday afternoon, Em, Tigger and I went to the city. The Fray concert that had been cancelled was rescheduled on Monday. Em decided it would be better to stay over then get up at 4 to catch the 4:30 a.m. train. We still had to get up EARLY to get there in time to get in. As we were waiting in line this guy came walking by asking if we would like a fan pass, he had an extra one. I was thinking “How hard would Em hit me if I grabbed it?” when Tigger yells out, I’ll take it! Em of course had ‘given him the nod’. He sent me a text saying someone was handing out extra fan passes so I walked up to see if I could get one. Some girls started screaming, my first thought was that they must have seen a band member, turned out it was a cockroach. A man who heard them and saw me looking asked me what it was. When I told him a cockroach, he shook his head and said, “Must not be New Yorkers.” Anyway, I didn’t find the person with the fan passes so Em and I had to stand with the masses while Tigger was right in front of the stage.

After the performance was over we walked around some, not too much cause Tigger’s foot was hurting him. Still that night I was so tired I thought I was going to throw up.

Tomorrow, or later today I mean, is my regular day off (RDO), or Pass Day as the Department likes to call it and Em and I are going to the city so she can get her nails done. We have some other things planned, but some of them fell through. I will try to get back tomorrow evening to fill you in.

>The best laid plans

>Friday morning we (Em, Tigger, Fred and me) planned to go down to the Today Show to see the Fray. I opened my E-mail Thursday when I got back from getting my hair done to see the following e-mail.

TODAY Show Concert Postponement ~ THE FRAY

Concert Postponement: THE FRAY

It is with sincere apologies that the TODAY Show announces the postponement of The Fray performance, scheduled for Friday, June 26th, due to the death of Michael Jackson.

I was very upset, when I first saw this, got as far as due to the death of and thought someone from the Fray had died. Then I got mad that because that creepy little freak had died, I wasn’t going to get to see the Fray.

That may seem like a cold response to hearing that someone had died, I am not really like that. I was upset when I heard that Ed McMahon and Farrah Fawcett died, I feel no such thing for Michael Jackson.

Back to Friday. We still went down to the city, just not as early and we didn’t go to the plaza. We did go to the Top of the Rock, since Fred had never been. It started to rain so Em and I went inside, the boys stayed outside and kept taking pictures. Em said, “My children are morons.” After we left Rockefeller Center we bought 2 umbrellas from a street vendor, then walked up to Central Park. We were just walking around, Em wanted to show Fred the Chess & Checkers House (mid-Park at 64th Street), when we got up there I started sneezing and wheezing. I told Em I had to leave there was something there I was allergic to. As we walked back down the stairs, Fred said, “Maybe these purple flowers?” I said, “No smells like white flowers.” Em turned to me with a grin, “I was going to say the same thing!” I can’t explain it, but years dealing with allergies has given me the ability to smell the color of flowers.

Leaving Central Park we went to Cafe Frida, but they weren’t open yet. So we walked to the Crocs store. Fred’s feet were really bothering him and he wanted sandals. After lunch we went to Maria Tash, by subway (can you believe it? Em went on the subway!) so I could get my ears pierced. This isn’t a great pic, I took it right after I left the piercing spa. My ears were still swollen and red.

>Long day plus

>Today was a long day, plus I had an appointment to get my nails done. So that made it even longer. Then I stopped afterward to get a mocha, notice how I got both those events in one picture? Aren’t I clever? *Preen*

I probably shouldn’t have stopped for the mocha, cause then I missed the 7:26 p.m. train and had to take the 7:56 p.m. I got an e-mail earlier in the day saying there was a problem with a stalled train at the New Hamburg Station so there was no train service between Beacon and Poughkeepsie. Not a problem for me since I get off at Beacon.

The reason I haven’t posted about our trip to the city is because I still haven’t renamed all the pictures I took. I am going to do that now and then I will post.

>Sugar scrub

>8 oz demera sugar turbindo sugar
1 oz vegetable glycerin
1 oz liquid castile soap
1 oz cold pressed oil (jojoba or coconut)
1/2 tsp vitamin E
1/4 tsp essential oil

All these supplies were available at my local natural foods store. The castile soap was already infused with essential oil, so I was able to skip that ingredient. All the ingredients came to under $30. It’s enough to make $120 worth of sugar scrub if I bought it from a store. This is made fresh and will last about a month. If you’re not going to use it in a month or less either make a smaller batch or refrigerate it. If its cold though it will separate and the cold pressed oil will solidify so you’ll have to warm it to room temperature before using it.

Basically mix all the oils and soap into the sugar. It will separate slightly so you’ll need to stir it when you use it.

The raw sugar is brown so the color isn’t pretty, but it works as well exfoliating all over the body. You can use it on your face as well.

From Marcie at Marcie’s Manhattan

>After I left Starbucks, some things happened that I just had to come on here and relate. First a little background.

My nail salon is on the corner of Madison Ave. and 36th St. Macy’s is in Herald Square which is at the corner of 34th St. and 7th Ave. Macy’s is having a Lancome giveaway. Since the kids were going to a movie and I was so close to Macy’s already, I decided to go there and get some makeup and get the free gift. As I was walking down 34th St to 7th Ave, this woman and her friend were behind me and she was talking really loud, “You know how if your bigger in the bust your clothes will go . . . ” I was trying to not listen, at the same time I was trying to so I could blog about it, but her voice was very annoying. Somehow they got ahead of me, and I kept trying to get in front of them to get away from them but I couldn’t, I didn’t want to slow down cause I really wanted to get to Macy’s. When we got to Herald Square she started in on, ‘This is Herald Square where the Macy’s Day Parade is.” Crossing the street I tried to go around them again but couldn’t, there were too many people. Then she says, “You know those plastic sippy cups? I like to fill them with wine for when I go to the park with the kids . . .” That’s when I ran. Fortunately they were not going to Macy’s.

After I left Macy’s I walked up 7th Avenue to go to GCT to catch the train home. When I got to 42nd Street. I saw Mickie and Minnie Mouse, walking side by side carrying these red felt bags. Mickie had one of those kids backpacks on that looks like a stuffed animal. Fortunately they did not look at me so I didn’t scream and call them pedophiles. That’s a long story for another time, or never. Then up at the corner was Elmo, he was taller then me, I walked behind him where he couldn’t see me. I have an unreasonable fear of stuffed animals that are bigger then me and walk.

>Remember I posted about dropping a meatball on my pants the other day? Well today I spilled milk on my calendar. My wall calendar. . . . Think on that for a while.

Right now I am sitting in Starbucks across the street from my nail salon. I should be going home, but the kids are going to see a movie so I don’t feel the need to rush.

Em & D are in the city now, she’s been sending me text messages. The last one informed me they were at Marie Belle’s on Madison. They got a free night at a hotel because of D’s trip to Toronto.

The Boss and I went to lunch today, as we were walking towards Mario’s we say this woman with a manikin, really, a full size naked woman with high heels. Boss said she was anatomically correct, I didn’t look that closely. After we passed her, he said ‘Don’t say anything.’ I shook my head and he continued, ‘Like what the f*** is she doing with that?!’

I was going to stop at the eye place to see if my contacts were in but I forgot, if they are open when I get back I will go in and bug them.

>today so far

>Saturday Em and I went to the city. I have that post saved, awaiting publication.

Today I had an eyedoctor appointment so I convinced Stitch to take me to the train later, the light was broken by the high school so a BPO was there directing traffic. He looked very happy to be standing there waving idiots er I mean drivers through the intersection.
I missed the train some idiot (that would be me) forgot to double check the schedule, there were more police at the train station, the coffee shop was broken into last night (seems like a stupid thing to do on a Sunday night).
Then I get to the eye place and the doctor checks me and *sigh* it appears I have been wearing my contacts too much and so I have to not wear them for a few days then go back and get my eyes checked and then I will have to only wear them 6 days a week. That means I will have to get glasses too. I will most likely have to get money out of my savings for that.

When I got to work, someone told me that sparks had been coming out of the outlet, so part of the office has no power. Not my part dog gone it! And our printer is out of service, I had to put a sign on it, then Herman was making fun of the sign so I put another sign on it, Don’t touch this, this means you Herman. I was waiting for him to complain about me putting his name on the sign so I could say to him, “Don’t F*** with me, I’m a bitch and I’m in a crappy mood!” But he didn’t. So I didn’t.

So that is my day so far. How is your day?

>We went to Manhattan yesterday

>And Em has written about it in her new blog, that I helped her set up, but am not allowed to read. That’s O.K. she doesn’t read my blog, fair is fair. Anyway, the name of her blog is Marcie’s Manhattan. So check it out, she is new to blogging, but not to writing.

I had an appointment to get my nails done, no picture, but I didn’t get them polished just new gel put on the old stuff was starting to come off. My fingertips are a little sore now, they always are after that much stuff is done to them. Em and Fred (Tigger was supposed to come but he was sick) went to lunch and I was going to join them after.

When done with my manicure I went to Starbucks for tea and I learned that I shouldn’t carry a paper cup of hot tea while checking my e-mail (ouchie!) Then I texted Em and she said to meet her at Madison Square Park(MSP). In case you don’t know, MSP is next to the Flat Iron Building and in MSP is the ‘Shake Shack‘ where Em was in line to get Fred a malted and agreed to get me a hamburger. Em had taken my camera because the Ethiopian restaurant they were going to was recommended to them by one of Fred’s teachers so she wanted to take a picture of him there and that morning she couldn’t find her camera.

Fred was off taking pictures. When I downloaded the pictures to my computer, they were mostly of squirrels. You can see that on the slideshow, if you have time to sit through it. I abbreviated the name for MSP on the pictures and started laughing, what I used could also stand for Mad Squirrel Park. With their eyes shining, they look kind of mad.

We next headed for Alphabet City so Em could get a baby gift for one of the teacher’s wife. After we headed toward Marie Belle for Lava Cake, stopping along the way at an Art Store, then Starbucks so I could use the bathroom but the line was not moving. We left and went to Marie Belle, where the bathroom had been vandalized and we couldn’t use it. We still had the Lava Cake, it is so good, Em says one person can’t eat a whole one. I think I could. Really, I do. We found a Subway where they let us use the employee bathroom, barely enough room to turn around. Em wanted a cab, she had a blister on her feet. I never complain if she wants to get a cab. Besides her blister it was getting kind of late, something I don’t realize when it stays light so long. Dinner at Annie Moore’s and then home.

Next week, Em wants to get the gel manicure, like I get. I’ll let you know what happens.

I didn’t make it

Those of you who have been reading my blog know that today is the first day of the pilot program: “Compressed Work Period”. I don’t think I have really explained it. What that means is, instead of working 10 days in a pay period, I will be working 9 days. Of course I will be working more hours per day, one week is 8 hours a day for 5 days, the next week is 8.75 hours a day for 4 days. So today was the first day I had to catch the 5:57 train to get to work at 8:00 a.m. Yes, I know I have a long commute.

Anyway, the only problem was some jerk in a monster SUV that thought he could park in the middle of the drop off spot so no one else could pull in there. I was going to blast my horn at him(yes it was a him, despite the plate saying ‘LADYTAZ’) but, my horn doesn’t blast, it cutely beeps. Anyway, I got into work at 7:50 a.m. so I wasn’t too miffed. So why did I title this post I didn’t make it? My goal was to leave the house with all my make-up on so I wouldn’t have to take my bag to work and put it on there. That didn’t happen, so tomorrow I try again. However, since I did make the early train, I treated myself to a yogurt parfait and Awake tea at Starbucks.

Also I (finally!) got my gifts from SEFA. I got a travel mug. This pretty key ring, that I decided to use, not hang on my wall with the rest of my key rings, And lastly this combo ruler and calculator, which I don’t really know what I will do with it.

Some of you may find this interesting, of all the pictures in this blog, the turquoise cup and the key ring were taken with my phone, the pictures wouldn’t turn out when I took them with my camera.

>The votes are in

>Everyone who voted thinks the Phantom, from Phantom of the Opera is:

A murderous, deranged, psychopathic, control freak stalker that should be drowned in his own lake.

I want to thank everyone who voted, even though it was just in fun. Now I have to come up with another poll.

The problem I have been having with not showing up as a follower is still going on. Someone said it was because I “blind” followed, but I always follow publicly. I went to the help center and some others are also having this problem. Hopefully it will be solved soon.

Yes, I know I am obsessing about it, but I can’t help it. This is how I am, besides I have to wait for my nails to dry before I can go to bed.
