>N. Y. C.

>They sang that song in Annie. Then the day after, yesterday, Em, Fred and I went to Manhattan. Got a late start since we both had some things to do before. She had to get the oil changed in her car and I had to take Gwen to the library and get gas for my car and get coffee. Gwen got a snack when I was getting coffee. Coffee is important right? I took my green bag so I could take my book The All-True Travels and Adventures of Lidie Newton by Jane Smiley. I read it on the train down to the city and back home. Since it was a little warmer then past trips, I was looking for a lighter jacket to wear and found my black quilted one with the pretty silver pin.

Em is trying to plan one thing to do each time we go down. She wanted to take Fred to the FDNY museum, I wanted to get my nails done. One of them came off, I didn’t have any glue so I tried sticking it back on with clear nail polish, that didn’t work, and I didn’t get around to getting gel on it until before the nail split and I had 9 long and one short. HATE THAT!

We walked to SoHo(that’s where the museum was). Em figured we could find a salon there and they would go to the museum and I would go get my nails done. Well, that didn’t work out. So after we went through the museum (which was kind of lame compared to the NYPD museum) we started back toward GCT, keeping our eyes open for a nail salon. On the way we stopped at Banana Republic, Em was looking at dresses, I pulled out this orange dress (according to the website it’s Leon Coral) as I did that Em walked from the back of the store and said, “You would look so freakin’ hot in that!” I didn’t try it on, there was a line for the dressing room and we didn’t want to leave Fred alone in the store and she was the one looking for a dress, I just happened to find one. Anyway, I wasn’t going to spend that much for a dress without trying it on so I didn’t get it.

We found a nail place on Madison, Em and Fred kept walking and I went in, the plan was to meet them at Annie Moore’s. We ended up meeting at GCT and I got a pasta dish from one of the little take away places downstairs and eating it on the train. I didn’t get the nails polished, decided to do that at home, then when I got home I couldn’t decide what color!

So I lined up my bottles of polish to try to decide.Should I go dark, it’s not spring yet, but it is going to be spring next week, so what color, the lavender or blue or maybe that grass green polish? Or should I be traditional, rose or red or mauve, this is so difficult!

I eventually decided on the lavender, but it took me until just now!

D left today

Business trip. Em drove him I went along for the ride. I took my little notebook along. Was planning on a nice entry, all I got was:

Going to Newark with D and Em. He going to Toronto. Em wants me to be sure I know way back
I am trying to write down directions as we go but D’s driving makes me sick.

So did you understand any of that? OK I will explain. D left from Newark, and I went with D and Em to the airport. Reason being, when they fly to Puerto Rico, I will be taking them to the airport and Em wanted me to ride along so I could be sure to know the way home. That doesn’t bother me. What worries me is when I have to drive to the airport by myself to pick them up when they are coming home. Did I ever tell you about picking Em up in Buffalo when we lived there? I couldn’t find the airport. Yes, that big place with the planes.

The rest of this evening was spent playing with the Wii, I got Tigger to make a Mii for me. Then I played bowling with Gwen, then tennis with Stitch, then baseball, then I let Tigger take over with the baseball. Then he and Stitch started playing tennis. That is where I left them. I realized it takes awhile to download a movie and I wanted to download a movie for Em and I to watch tomorrow. There was a major snowstorm forecast for tonight but it hasn’t started yet. The snow that is. I was really hoping for a snow day tomorrow.

1502earringsnailsHowever I promised to write more about Manhattan. First, I had the address of the salon wrong, not the address the cross street. As we stood there and looked at the street sign, Em said, I have West down and this is East, that means the salon is on the other side of Central Park. So we had to walk across Central Park and the up Columbus, because you can’t go straight across the park. We had to stop for lunch then. Em was good and had a salad but I was bad and had a burger, but it was good. On to the salon. Em wanted a spa pedicure and when they asked her which kind she was confused, they had 4 different ‘flavors(?)’ of salts, I guess you would call them. I had a regular pedicure but it included getting my legs exfoliated with some citrus smelling stuff. I also got a leg massage, which I told you about. My calves were still sore this morning! Since I have gel nails, I needed a fill so I had to wait to get my nails done. The lady that did my pedicure gave this little girl a manicure, green polish on one hand and sparkly red on the other. Her mother said, “Now when you get your nails done, you can’t bite them.” In a very soft voice the little girl said, “I won’t mom.” Kind of a sighing voice, like, “Mom, you’ve already told me a hundred times.” Of course Em and I think, since she is a former nail biter and I am a friend of a former nail biter, that its not going to work. But the nails looked very pretty. As do mine now, however if I keep talking about manicures and posting pictures of my nails, I am going to have to change the name of my blog to either Fashionista Bella or Nail Diva Bella, and those are the earrings I bought to replace the earrings I lost, and no I didn’t find them, but I did find my hockey puck.

hockypuckIt’s not really a hockey puck. It is a backup for the computer, like a flash drive. It has been ‘lost’ for over a year, and when I tore my bed apart looking for my earrings, cause I was sure they fell out of the pocket of my sweater when I took it off, and I took it off when I was standing at my bed, I found it on the plywood that is under my mattress. I have no idea how it was there for so long and I never saw it, but . . . I now have it, which is good. I can back up my documents now.

>Good day today

>Don’t know if it was the not having Scotch or the Tylenol® PM, but I got up early this morning and went out in service. I also went to the meeting. Gwen and I went to Panera for lunch and made some more plans for Em and D’s 25th Anniversary party. I hope they do this like they promised.

I was going to post yesterday that when I was at Saks yesterday and the woman was putting the moisturizer and stuff on my face, all I could think about was how fat my face was. Today I was 142.8, when means I have gained everything back. I went to Allsport and looked in the mirror and all I saw was my fat tummy. I know some would look at me and say I am not fat, and I know I really am not, just about 20-25 pounds overweight, with my health concerns I really need to get rid of the excess.

And once again I have stayed up too late. I need to go to bed now and I will see you tomorrow.

>Manhattan

>This is getting to be a recurring post.

Since I spent 3 days in Albany Em decided I needed a trip to Manhattan, I suspect she was just using that as an excuse and just really wanted to go herself. I am her friend however so I went along with it. That sounds like I didn’t really want to go, of course I do. I wrote the above on the train, then I started to get motion sick, so I stopped. I just took some Tylenol® PM so I have to stop now. I will finish this tomorrow.

We didn’t go down real early this time. Em went to BJ’s so I decided I would go to Target to get a purse that I could carry my stuff and my camera in. Tigger wanted to come with me. So first I put gas in the car, then we drove to Target. I didn’t like how the car sounded so I checked the oil when we go to Target. Plenty of oil but dirty, so it needs to be changed. I will schedule that for next weekend. Em called while we were at Target so we met her at Panera for breakfast, we took a little too long so we had to drive straight to the train station, that meant I didn’t have my camera, I only had foundation on and I was wearing my Crocs™! My fuzzy ones. I was not very happy about that.

After making a stop at the bathroom, we started walking up 5th Avenue toward Central Park. I was looking for a perfume store I saw on 5th Avenue once. We didn’t find it, Tigger found it on his I-touch, but we didn’t go to it. I stopped at Sephora to see about getting a makeover, didn’t get one there, got one at Saks and bought some lip gloss. Em bought a bunch of makeup, enough to get a free gift from Lancôme. Tigger got a shirt and another jacket, navy blue this time. We went to Cafe Frida for lunch again. I had the same thing I had last time and Em had fajitas and Tigger had Salmon. This is some of the decor there. Kind of cool huh? Em said the waiter was kind of cute, I said yeah, in a South American Rebel kind of way!

It was a fun day after all. I bought lip gloss and two new pairs of Crocs™, we finished our day at Annie Moore’s as usual. I didn’t have Scotch this time, need to see if that is what makes me drag the next day.

>Live from New York!

>Yes, Em and Fred and I went to New York today. Had a great time. I haven’t checked the battery in my camera to see if it is still good so today I just took pictures with my cell phone. They will be added to the Manhattan slide show as soon as I go through them and crop them and clean them up etc.

We took a cab first thing to the Brooklyn Bridge. We actually had one of those chatty cab drivers that people always complain about, I didn’t mind it, made the drive kind of interesting, he thought I was one of Em’s kids! LOL, she hates it when that happens.

Anyway, we walked around the courthouse and went to One Police Plaza and the NYPD Museum. It was very interesting. Check out the pictures when I get them up. Then we walked to Chinatown to have lunch. Em mentioned something I hadn’t realized. We have breakfast and dinner at the same place every time, but lunch is always someplace different. Today we had lunch at a restaurant called Shanghai Gourmet‎, 100 Mott St., New York NY. It was cross between nice restaurant and take out place. The service was O.K. and the food was excellent. I ate until I couldn’t eat anymore. Fred tried something new, he wasn’t really crazy about it, but we were happy he made the effort.

Then we just walked around. Stopped at Starbucks, I have become addicted to their Chai Tea, Fred got a cupcake, then we went to where the Flatiron Building is, got Fred a shake at the Shake Shack, walked past (didn’t go in) the Museum of Sex(big pictures of animals doing it), walked back to GCT for our dinner drink.

I finally bought the book that I have been looking at every time I go to the city, A Pickpocket’s Tale by Timothy J. Gilfoyle. 324 pages, 460 with the appendixes, notes and index.

>Not feeling good

>Woke up this morning and I thought things were ok. When I got to work however, my throat was sore. And I couldn’t get warm. I had on a sweater and my fleece cape and I was still freezing. I started drinking tea and hot water and then I was so warm I couldn’t stay awake. I tried to pull it together. By lunch my head was aching, as was my neck and shoulders.

I sent Em a text asking if someone could pick me up early then left work. I got a Chai Latte so I could have something warm and with milk in it, since I didn’t eat lunch and I didn’t want to throw up on the train. I slept almost all the way home. Then when I got home I went right to bed. I got up around 7:00 pm I felt better, but by then I was feeling so cozy I didn’t want to get out of bed! I did however, had some dinner and visited with the kids. Tried to order Stitches new phone but the payment hasn’t made it there yet. Then I have to wait 24 hours before I can order his phone.

I did manage to order Tigger some songs. Including Pinball Wizard.

>Curses!

>When I got up this morning, it was to discover I now only have 9 long nails. One came off during the night and I can’t find it to glue back on. Well, only thing to do is smooth it down and dab some dark polish on until I get my nails done again.

When I showed Em, she grinned and said, “Well, my lashes came off and I can’t get them on this morning.”

So we went to the meeting, I was late as usual. Em took Tigger to get his hair cut and then to get groceries, the rest of them were playing Monopoly. while all this was going on I discovered that the freezer was not working. So I was upstairs when they got home and was standing in the kitchen in my new crocs. I pointed them out to Tigger, he came over and asked, “Are they fuzzy inside?” So I took one off and handed it to him. He put his hand in it and looked around at the others and said, “It’s fuzzy inside!” I told him yes and my feet are finally warm!

After they got the food rearranged and some put in the upstairs freezer and some out in the shed (so no animals will eat it). Em cooked up the beef and made tacos. Then we cleaned up and Gwen and I played Rummicub. I think that is all for tonight. No work tomorrow so I may be back a few times!

>Very cold day

>It was a two pant day today. One pair of jeans, then my yoga pants over them. I was hoping for a snow day but that was not to be, there was snow, but not enough to justify not going into work. Maybe the cold was but I just bundled up and went in. I am glad I bought that gray jacket in Manhattan a while back. The hood kept my head nice and warm. I also had a fleece jacket on under it and had that hood over my head too! It was so cold in my bedroom tonight I actually dragged out my space heater and turned it on. So now I believe I will be able to sleep tonight. I turned it off a little while ago, but I think I will turn it on while I go wash my face and brush my teeth to warm the room up a bit before I sleep.

Em asked me to get her some more of the Chili Pepper infused Olive Oil, so I went to the store, but they had none. They didn’t even have a space for it on the shelf. So today I went to another store, down 47th Street next to the new Duane Reade. They didn’t have the Chili Pepper infused Olive Oil, but they did have a Garlic and Chili Pepper infused Olive Oil. I sent a text to Em, but she didn’t get back to me until I was back in my office. I will have to get it another day. Maybe tomorrow if I get a chance.

In other news, a plane fell into the Hudson River, it may have sucked some birds into its engines, there is an article about it in the NY Times. Some minor injuries but over all not too bad. Everyone survived.

Well, I need to wash my face and go to bed. Tomorrow is Friday, S said we would go to lunch. I am not holding my breath.

>Work Survival Shelf

>

I am set at work. I have all I need to get me through the day, a box of Splenda, a jar of loose tea and a canister filled with P.G. Tipps tea bags. What more could I ask for? A place to take a nap where my boss won’t find me comes to mind.

>The Classic Dames Test

>Is another of those tests that makes the circuit of blogs, like the “What type of reader are you?” that is going around the book blogs. I have my results posted on my reading blog.

Today I actually got up on time. The only thing icky was my period started. Yuck, but not a big mess just yuk. Gwen rode with me and home with me, we stopped for soup and was going to stop for gas but I forgot, so after I dropped her off I went to go get some. We were going to do the Bible reading, but D wanted her to help him with putting plastic on the windows so I came downstairs. Did a few things on my computer, we did it, then dinner and now I am here. I was thinking about Allsport, but I did too much yesterday, after a month of not going, I should have just picked up where I stopped.

Not much else to say, I guess I will check my message boards and then play my game some more. Then I will read. And be back here tomorrow.
