More Hurricane Irene

At the house where I used to live, the basement got flooded. Today I went up to help, since I did use to live there and my stuff did cause some problems. They all hate me now. (not really, or not anymore, some of them have gotten over it) I took a little video, you can also view it on YouTube along with the rest of my videos.

After the hurricane passed through New York, I read headlines like this: ‘Some Hurricane,’ New Yorkers Grumble as Danger Passes with quotes like this:

“With all the preparations and all the hoopla on TV, it was all for naught,” he said. “I feel embarrassed that we made such a to-do.”

“The cops were riding around telling people to get out, and we were making fun of what a big deal” the storm had not been, Mr. Fenton said.

No big deal? Maybe he would like to tell that to the million people in New Jersey and New York (each) and the Hundreds of thousands more residents in Massachusetts, Connecticut and Rhode Island without power, to the people whose houses and businesses floated away, to the million people who rely on the trains to get into the city to work. He could also tell that to the two people whose kayak overturned and the rescue workers that saved their lives, or the hundreds of work crews that labored through the night on the train tracks looking for fallen trees and mud slides and arranging for clean up and repairs.

As for the comment that the mayor over reacted by shutting down mass transit, could you imagine the response if water had gotten into the tunnels and shorted out the system? Not only would you have damage to the system, you would also have hundred if not thousands of people trapped in subway cars in tunnels. Would that have been better?

Yes New York City did not get hit as hard as forecast, but if anyone thinks this storm is no big deal, they should go tell that to the families of the 40 people that died.

Phone not working

Well, not really, I just have problems if I go online. I thought it might be because I now have 1,000 messages in my AOL inbox, but when I signed off and tried to send a text, the phone froze up so I had to take the battery out to use the phone, I couldn’t even turn it off. So now I am just killing time because I am so tired and I just want to go home.

It was raining so heavy this morning the backyard looked like the everglades. Except no gators.

When I got home, Tigger wanted to look at my phone to see what it was doing, of course, it didn’t make the lines across the touch screen when he was playing with it. No, couldn’t misbehave for beloved Tigger could it?

I am almost done with Murder in the Adirondacks. I have finished the account of the murder and trial and execution, now he is writing about how the novel “An American Tragedy” came about.

Got the score for the football game: Steelers 21, Bills 24

And Cookie sent me an e-mail, could it be Grace is taking a supplement and that is why she is losing so much weight? I mean, 25 pounds in 5 weeks. I keep forgetting to ask M about it. I am sure she would have an opinion. I told her about the Chipotle flavored olive oil, so of course she had me get some for her, then she put it in her oil mister thing so she could spray it on her popcorn. I didn’t try any, but I am sure it is delish.

I was listing some books on Amazon to sell. Tigger brought down a whole stack of books, “We never read these, can we sell them?” Then he realized that with the shipping credit Amazon gives, you get more money than you ask for, so he tried to get me to sell a quarter for 15 cents. He is a total nut case. I am not a meanie, I speak the truth.

It is raining like crazy here. 9D is flooded so if we want to go to the mall we have to drive up Route 9. Tigger asked me if I have sold anything yet. Then he told me he was making pancakes. Very cool I told him. He agreed. Someday, I have to take a good picture of Abby.
