>Power is back on but

>the crisis is not yet over. Last night we discovered our pipes were frozen or blocked with snow and ice or something. Long and short of it, can’t use my bathroom or the dishwasher. ‘That is going to make getting ready for work at 5:15 a.m. interesting.’ I thought, the bathroom part, not the dishwasher.

Last night I packed a bag with the stuff I need to get ready and this morning got up, got dressed and came upstairs to the other bathroom. Then I realized I had forgotten my contacts, so back downstairs I went. Since it is the first of the month I needed new contacts, I had to scrounge around to find them, then I came upstairs and, either one case was empty or I lost one contact. Back downstairs I went to get another one. By the time I had finished all this and gone back downstairs it was late.

So we took off for the train station, knew I wouldn’t make my regular train but would make the one after, coming up the road, to the stop sign, across the intersection, blocking the road, was a police car. We turned around and went another way, down Main Street which was freakily empty of cars and made it to the train station on time for the second train. Didn’t even have to run.

I have not heard anything from home about pipes or if I got any ‘packages’. I am hoping, no news is good news, I am also afraid to ask.

>Have you ever

>called yourself stupid? I don’t just mean you ran into something and said, “Stupid!” in an annoyed sort of way, I mean yelling at yourself, banging your head against your pillow (excuse me, haven’t you been paying attention? No power, no heat, the only place I can get warm is in my bed, well my car was warm when I was running it to charge my phone, but I only have so much gas) anyway, that was what I was doing last night, ending up with me crying, cause I always cry when someone calls me stupid, even if its me. And the cause of all this? I lost my wallet. Gwen and I went to the store, since we were walking and just going to the corner store I stuck my wallet in my coat pocket, wasted trip since no one had any power and so they weren’t open. When we got home I went to check out the guys clearing off the cars and the driveway, actually it’s our yard since the landlord hasn’t seen fit to give us a paved driveway like he has for the rest of the tenants. Shook off the dogwood, walked through the snow, shoved snow off the car into where Stitch was shoveling, earning a ‘look’ from him and an “I hate you Bella.” In other words I was having fun. Took some pictures and got stuck in the snow, then climbed over the hood of the car to get out. Then last night I was looking for my wallet, it wasn’t in my coat pocket and I couldn’t find it upstairs, of course I was looking by flashlight.

Once I remembered what was in my wallet, my monthly rail pass for March, then the self-name-calling began. I didn’t sleep as I was trying to figure out how I was going to pay for another monthly pass ($400). Got up this morning, did you know I can put my contacts in by flashlight? I’ve done it two times now. Can’t put make-up on by flashlight though, have to work on that.

So to finish the wallet story, by our back door we have this cabinet that D built, cabinet on legs with a granite top, very nice looking, then a cabinet above the bottom cabinet with space inbetween where our microwave sits. In front of the microwave were my gloves, which I had also been looking for, sitting on top of the gloves was my wallet. Crisis over. That crisis, we still don’t have power and there was an 8.5 magnitude earthquake in Chili. So I can be thankful for finding my wallet and thankful that the ground under NYC is not moving, it just feels like because of the subway.

Oh and I am posting this from the NYC Public Library, you know, the building with the lions in front of it. Where its warm and they have power!

>We got another little storm

>I came home from work early yesterday. Em called and said it was sleeting at home, so even though it was just rain in NYC, I came home. It was kind of nasty, not so nasty that I couldn’t take Gwen up to the DCC South Campus to pick something up for the disabilities office. Not that it did any good, since when she and Stitch left this morning, they couldn’t get out of the development. The problem with living in a private development is one has to wait for the landlord (or his maintenance guy, who he doesn’t pay just gives him a place to live) to come clear the roads; on the plus side, he plows out the driveway so we don’t have to.

So here is what the road in front of our house looked like this morning. It has since been sort of cleaned up. I’m glad since I have to go out in a little bit. We are supposed to get more snow, which means the possibility of a snow day (except today wasn’t my day off, it was my regular Wednesday off) and if we are having a snow day I have to have chips, and hot cocoa, and cinnamon sugar oatmeal. You get the idea. I am also sure that Amy needs gas, so I will need to put some in her.

Even though I didn’t go out I had a productive day. My order came from VSD, two pairs of shoes, but one was the wrong color. So I called them and the lady was ever so nice, she is shipping out the correct color by Express Mail (I never use Express Mail) and I have 30 days to ship the other shoes back (I am sure they will be going back in a lot less time) with no charge to me.

Then since I got new shoes, I had to clean out my closet. I had a bunch of boxes (don’t know what I was saving them for) and a few pairs of shoes that I never wear, a couple of them I tried to put on and they were too tight, I think my feet have grown.

Last thing I did was go to church, which they rushed through so everyone could get home early. After that I put gas in Amy and went to the grocery store, to get the above mentioned chips and hot cocoa in case we have a snow day tomorrow.

>Ever have a ‘flash’ of memory?

>This morning I couldn’t find my gloves, looked on my bed, in my little bag for work; checked the pockets of my jacket and still, not there. So I figured I must have left them on the train yesterday, put another pair on and left for work. On the way to the train station I was thinking about lost gloves and such when I got a mental image of me putting my gloves in my purse. That is not where I normally put them. When I got to the train station I stuck my hand in my pocketbook and there they were.

>Weird things seen in NYC

>I love New York. One of the reasons is all the interesting (a.k.a. Weird) things I’ve seen.

Last saturday Em and I saw a woman wearing a hat shaped like a cow’s head. Really! The front stuck out cause it was stuffed and there were horns and ears. Em and I nearly peed ourselves.

Then yesterday I had a doctor’s appointment and walking back I saw this woman with powder blue high heeled boots, white tights and white short skirt (some woman have freakin’ ugly knees).

When I got to GCT I saw a woman putting a diaper on a dog. Yes I did. New York is such a great city.

>Collecting pennies

>My friends will tell you I am a tad compulsive. They are being kind, I am extremely compulsive. I have promised my friend Mickie a post for her, but I have other things to blog about so she will have to wait, really, I can’t help it.

When I put my change in jars, I sort it. One jar for pennies, one for quarters and one for the rest. I recently ran out room for the pennies. Can you guess how many pennies in the jar? Come on PLEASE?

Oh you want a prize if you guess it, hmmm. O.K. How about a pair of silver and glass bead earrings? Contest open only to United States residents due to cost of international postage. Post your guesses!

For additional details and picture of the earrings, click here.

>Those of you who have been around for a while know I have more then just this blog.

Last night I was on my book blog Bella is reading … posting my latest review. I don’t go on that blog every day, just to post reviews and other book related news. My reading is way down this year. Imagine my surprise when I looked at my followers and saw that I have 50 followers on that blog!

Came back here to see I have 31! Wow! People are reading my blogs! I better shape up and watch my mouth!

Back to my life, I have been taking it pretty easy these past few days. Getting up when I want, doing pretty much whatever I feel like. Tomorrow it ends, back to work for a couple days, then off again. This week coming up is a three day work week. Nice huh?

>Lost & found

>On December 10 I lost a silver ring and an earring. I know the date because I posted it on Facebook. The ring is pictured at left, which probably tells you how the story ends, but bear with me it is kind of interesting.

December 11th I was in Time Square at the AT&T store to meet Joe Girardi. I didn’t bring anything to sign, I didn’t know I was supposed to and no one knew if there would be anything provided to sign. I had my Yankee backpack, I started to empty it so Joe could sign it. In the very bottom I found another silver ring I had lost. This ring is a pinky ring and has two hearts joined together. I stopped wearing it cause it is too big for my pinky even though I bought the smallest size (Bella the tiny handed princess). I thought, “December is turning out to be a good month, I meet Joe Girardi, I am going to see Rob Thomas and I find my ring.”

Yesterday the month got better. See my gloves? Don’t worry all you moms out there, the glove has a little mitt that covers my fingers. I was going to lunch and decided to wear them since it was cold and I was going to be carrying something and wouldn’t be able to put my hands in my pocket. As I put the right one on, I noticed something silver pop out of the finger, I searched around my cubicle, didn’t find anything. Then I looked in the bag I had just taken the gloves out of and ….. there in the bottom was my ring! Yes the ring pictured above. I was so happy, I love that ring. Still haven’t found the gold earring.

>Had kind of a busy Saturday

>Ever have a busy day that you didn’t seem to have anything to show for it?

Saturday seems like that, like I was going all day and now I can’t remember what I did. I know I did some shopping and got my hair cut, but what else? Let’s see, trying not delve into minutia of my day. I went to get coffee and apple fritter, then I went to Target, I stopped to get my hair cut after Target I went to Allsport to work out. Before I started to work out I discovered I needed a feminine care product, which I then realized I did not have. I realized this after frantically searching through my gym bag. They have dispensers in the bathroom to buy this product, I put a quarter in and didn’t get anything. So I put everything back into my gym bag and went home to get some. The creepy guy was at the front desk so I didn’t tell anyone about losing a quarter.

Traffic was slow on 52 after I got home and got my ‘personal things’ and was getting ready to leave D said, “You want to go out with 84 the way it is?” I left for two reasons, (1) I was not going on 84, (2) I had to go to Allsport, it wasn’t a choice. But the problem on 84 explains why the traffic was slow on 52, but it wasn’t bad going up to Allsport. Then I remembered I had forgotten to go to Office Depot, I wanted to get something to put my autographed picture in.

Now I know why I was busy all day and feel like I got nothing done, I kept having to backtrack and repeat trips! However I did get everything done that I wanted to get done.

>Not much going on

>today, just cleaning. Yesterday was a total bust, Tigger bailed on me going to the city. He insisted all day that he was too sick to go. Bah!

The fight is still going on. I keep saying he just didn’t want to go with me ’cause I said we weren’t going to do any shopping. He insists that he would have been perfectly happy just taking pictures.

This morning Gwen and I were talking about blogs, she hasn’t done much on her’s lately, she wants me to help her, by telling her what she should write about! I can’t do that, its her blog. Anyway, then Tigger decided he wanted to make his own blog, Stitch suggested the title Ramblings of a nutcase which of course he liked and is using. Then after saying he probably wouldn’t post anything beyond the first post, he has posted 3 of his stories. Gwen of course went on her blog The continuing journey of the Voyager Princess to tell everyone about it. Then I posted my own little comment.

If you have a moment, you should really check them out.
