>Today

>Today I am suffering the consequences of yesterday being a holiday in that I turned my alarm off yesterday and so this morning it was still off so I overslept. The time I woke up I should have already been on the train. Then I couldn’t find my keys, yesterday when I got back from Verizon with Tigger I just threw them on my bed. When I went out to my car I was glad I was lazy and left my jacket in the car cause it is about 20 deg cooler today.

I had to drop my prescription off so that made me even later to work. Then when I got to work I realized I had left my ID in the bag I brought to work on Friday! So I had to stand there and knock on the door, no one heard me and I kept knocking, finally someone came, but not because I was knocking, because he was leaving. Well, back to work now.

>Sunday, that’s my fun day

>Hornis called to arrange to meet this A.M. for service. I thought he said 11:00 a.m. and I was purposely late since it was at Debbie’s and I hate walking around in my bare feet. She doesn’t like people to wear shoes in her house, but she doesn’t provide them with something else to wear so I don’t like going to her house. First weird thing was Debbie was leaving when I got there, she just waved at me. I went up to the door and peeked through, no one was there. I thought this is odd, maybe everyone has already left, but why would Deb have just left if that was the case? So I went back to my car and was fooling around with my sun shade and Syd and Nancy pulled up. Then Jack and Jill, then Hornis and Mrs. Hornis. Turns out we were meeting at 11:30 a.m. Well, so to not take off my shoes, I just stood by the counter, didn’t go on the rug to sit down. We had a nice morning, but it was awfully hot by the end of it. So hot I didn’t even stop at Ron’s. Just went straight home to sit in the air conditioning. I had a headache, which got better in the cool air.

Went to church, it started to thunder, as I watched, Sue looked at Joe, he gave her some keys and she handed them to her husband who then left. Evidently, the windows were down on Joe’s car and Bill went out to put them up. Then at the very end when the elder was giving his closing comments and we were getting ready to sing our final song before the closing prayer, there was a big crash of thunder and the lights went out. So we skipped the song and just had prayer. Then when we looked out the door it was pouring down rain and wind blowing, a real storm.

By the time I got home it had stopped and D was grilling hamburgers.

Not much else to say, tomorrow is a holiday so I might be here, might not depends on what we have planned.

>Men are stupid

>I realize that is a very general statement and that I might have some male readers that take offense at it. However, I am actually talking about one man in particular, and I am not the one who made the statement.

Today I didn’t really have anything planned, so I just got up and got breakfast and loafed around the living room. Em went someplace with D but when she got home she asked me to take her grocery shopping. This is where stupid starts. The reason she needed me to take her to do her errands was today D was getting the piano and instead of renting a truck to transport it, he decided it would fit in Em’s mini van.

So he had the kids take the seats out and he and Nick went up to get it. After Em and I had finished getting groceries she gets a call from D asking her to get plastic, which she couldn’t do because we had stuff in the car that needed to be refrigerated. She was annoyed since she didn’t know why he needed the plastic and started thinking that maybe nobody showed up to help and now he needed to cover the seats with the plastic. She called back and asked him how much plastic did he need what was he using it for? Turns out he broke the back window of the van and needed to cover it. When we got home, the entire back window was gone. So to save $20 on a truck rental, it cost Em over $30 for the plastic and duct tape and the inconvenience of her now having to get it replaced. Also, as she said it cut into my time to get my hair done.

I later found out from Tigger how it happened. Just let me say that things on wheels roll, and when a piano hits a window . . . Tigger went with me to get my hair done, he needed a hair cut and a new wallet. Then after we had dinner the kids wanted to play Pictionary and D said he would play then he sat down at the computer, I went downstairs after about 30 minutes. Thinking, why did he say he would play when he knew he had other stuff to do. Why didn’t he just wait to say he would play until he was ready.

And I haven’t posted since Wednesday, I mean, like really posted, sat here and thought up something clever and witty to say out of my brain.

Every other Wednesday is a RDO for me, that stands for Regular Day Off, the Department is calling it a Pass Day. So what did I do Wednesday? Well, a lot of nothing really, and a lot of something. LOL. I walked with Gwen, we went to the library. Her idea, went online but didn’t have enough time to really do anything. Had lunch with Em. Got ice cream for Fred since he had come home sick from school, played Pictionary, see what I mean by nothing and something?

Thursday was a regular work day and today Em and Tigger went to Manhattan, South Street Seaport where she got a ankle chain and a top really cheap. I had my eye doctor appointment, I now need bi-focal lenses. But I got my contacts, I just have to not wear them from 6:00 a.m. to midnight. I should get to bed earlier than midnight anyway, since I get up at 5:00 a.m. Afterwards we met at Annie Moore’s, we had planned to go to Marie Belle, but Em had a blister on the bottom of her foot. This was on top of the blister she got when she and I were in Manhattan. So we just came home. See her take on the day at her blog, Marcie’s Manhattan.

090521-10321On another note, someone made a comment about my piercing post, so we sent a few e-mails back and forth, I decided to see if I could get a picture of my ear and here it is! I already got an “Awww it’s cute!” I am now thinking about getting a third hole, but I don’t know if there is room on my little ear.

The WaterSense program has refined its draft labeling specification for single-family new homes (initially released in May 2008). The revised draft specification addresses efficient plumbing fixtures, hot water delivery systems, appliances, landscape design and irrigation.

The revised specification will ensure that future WaterSense labeled homes still use 20% less water than similar new homes, while reducing the burden and cost to the builders. The modifications to the previous draft specification have built in some additional flexibility; the changes include:

  • Hot water delivery systems – New performance standards no longer require specific types of hot water delivery systems or insulation of hot water pipes.
  • Landscaping – The revised landscaping criteria allow for a wider variety of landscaping options.
  • Irrigation systems – Additional requirements for minimum distribution uniformity values and rain shutoff devices increase the efficiency of newly installed irrigation systems.
  • Water budget tool – An improved resource, the water budget tool, better reflects growing seasons and plant water requirements.
  • Inspection guidelines- An optional sampling protocol adds flexibility and streamlines the inspection process for production builders.

These changes reflect further research, stakeholder comments and industry best practices. Once the specification is finalized, homes built and inspected to the specification will bear the WaterSense label. The updated specification for single-family new homes will be available for public comment through July 7, 2009. EPA anticipates releasing the final Water-Efficient Single-Family New Home Specification in late 2009. EPA welcomes input on the revisions made to the specification, and encourages all interested parties to view the most recent documents and provide comments. In addition, EPA plans to hold at least one public meeting on the revisions in June 2009. Visit EPA Watersense to learn more about the Water-Efficient Single- Family New Home Specification.
