>It seems like he drives fast, and it doesn’t matter. Sometimes slow and it doesn’t matter. I am sure, knowing him, he aways drives exactly the same, except for mornings like today when it’s pouring down rain.

It must be me, my own sense of urgency that changes my perception of the drive to the train station.

>My shoes are still wet

>Tuesday it rained. It didn’t start out raining or I would have taken my rain coat and worn my rubber boots. It started after I found out George died. Some people attach significance to that, I don’t. I went to lunch, I was feeling a little sad and it was pouring, all I had to protect myself was my ball cap and a sweat jacket. My shoes got soaked, my jacket got soaked, my top, jeans, in a word, everything.

Wednesday I was off, so I left my shoes in my room, hung up my sweat-jacket, which was still dripping wet, so things could dry. When I went to put my shoes on Thursday, they were still wet. I suppose the fact that they slid under my dresser didn’t help. So I wore my flip flops to work. Today I didn’t even try to put my shoes on, I just looked at them and they look like they are still wet.

Tomorrow Gwen and I are going to the Yankee game so I really hope they are dry then. I am wearing my black dress and I want to match.

>So hot, so very very hot

>Went to see my dermatologist today, she was very happy with how my face looked, no red flare ups even with the heat. By the time I walked to work however, my face was so red you would have thought it was a sunburn, I was a little worried my sunscreen had stopped working. It hadn’t, it was just heat flush.

When I left work, I walked across the parking lot, down the block and across the street. I had to wait for traffic, and I put my hand on my head. My hair was so hot, it was almost to hot to touch. I looked across at the temperature about the State Farm office. 105⁰F, 40⁰C. I don’t remember ever being in temperature that hot, the sun was so hot it felt like it was burning my skin through my clothes.

Fortunately, since my bedroom is in the basement and the lights were off all day, it is relatively cool in there. I shouldn’t have any trouble sleeping tonight.

>Just made it

>I have been trrying to get back to my regular, or maybe I should say, the time I’m supposed to be on the train. Today was a good day to start since today is payday, so I draged myself out of bed, a little later then I wanted and then my contacts wouldn’t co-operate. The left one, even after I took it out is still bothering me. When we left the house with less then 10 minutes to get there I was sure I wouldn’t make it.

Driving to the train station, I resisted the urge to push the issue and fly through town like a crazy woman. When I got to the train station the train wasn’t there. I took that as a good sign. It pulled in as I was coming up the stairs.

Stitch and I want to know who cancelled summer. It was 40⁰F (4⁰C) this a.m. Are you f*cking kidding me?! I have my jacket on and not just because I forgot to wear a bra.

>I took these pictures

Last time Em and I were in the city. Spring flowers! And it was a pretty nice day too, not like recent weather. Actually these were taken in our yard. I told Stitch you know it is spring when the Crocuses stick their little purple heads up (I know they look kind of blue, but they are really purple). They are all flattened on the ground now because of all the rain, and have been overpowered by the daffodils.

I have no idea the name of these pinkish purple flowers, but they were blooming in Central Park so I snapped their picture. We were walking down a road through the park, I don’t remember where we were going at the time, we were either coming from or going to the Cold Water Creek store. I got a nice dress there on a really good sale. I kept stopping to take pictures so Em got way ahead of me. Of course she stopped and waited for me.

We stopped at Maxie’s Grill for lunch, Em said she thinks in the future we will just go there for drinks and dessert. We were hoping to see some of the game, instead they had on girl’s softball.

And these,

are Forsythia, not Forsynthia like some people say, there is no ‘n’, they are also a flower (or bush) that when I see it think of spring.

I don’t know what this last flower is but I know you see a lot of them during springtime,

>Today is already looking like a day I would like to rewind and start over. Yes I want a do-over. Up early to catch the train, took out my ear phones to make sure we weren’t changing trains in Croton like yesterday (always a high light of my day when that happens[big eye roll here]). We didn’t so I was thinking today should be o.k., just a little rain, yes a LITTLE rain, also cold nasty wind, my jeans are still wet.

Fortunately it was Abi who opened the door to the office, not someone with that hated question, ‘Don’t you have an umbrella?’ Well of course I have an umbrella, its home in my closet where it won’t get broken or wet (another big eye roll), I don’t want it to end up on a blog somewhere, or on one of those posters

‘Missing … have you seen …. ‘

I also only wore one jacket. I need two jackets, a light one for the office and a heavier one to wear over it when I go outside. Especially on a day like today I need two jackets. I only have my heavy jacket, which is wet now so I can’t wear it and I am freezing in my office!

I tried to turn my scale on to measure my cereal and Ta Da! batteries are dead. Fortunately it takes AAA batteries, except I don’t think I have any. Anyway, it is day two of my new vitamin regimen and I still don’t feel any better. In fact right now I wish I was home still wrapped up in my blankets.

>gray wet Monday

>Sometimes I like a gray Monday, gives your senses a chance to recover from the weekend. Especially if its been one of those bright sunshiney action packed weekends.

Last weekend was sunshiney but not much action. I wanted to go to Allsport but Stitch was working on the brakes and wouldn’t answer me about what his schedule was the rest of the day so I got mad and took a nap. Then it was too late for anything.

Last night Em, the boys and I went to see Daughtry and Lifehouse play in Newark. It was a fabulous concert and I didn’t get home and to bed until 1:45 a.m. Today I told Abi, I am so tired I could kill someone. Mainly the someone’s that won’t leave me alone.

>Inhalers and Epipen

>I got a new purse today. Since I buy purses a lot I don’t bother with expensive so it is a cheap Target bag. It is a little smaller then my old one which is a problem, I like to carry my wallet, my appointment book, my notebook and my camera with me. I can’t fit all that in the new purse, reason being I have to carry an inhaler and two epipens. I don’t know if that is the correct way to write that work, my computer keeps giving me the red squiggly line. Well, I am sure you know what I mean.

It means I hate having allergies and asthma. I have never had to use an epipen and I rarely use my inhaler, however, I don’t want to be without either if I should need them.

Later today we are going to Daughtry/Lifehouse concert. I was going to be watching the game, but it is cancelled due to rain.

>New Weather Report

>Now it is supposed to be sunny on Sunday, and raining next Saturday when Em and I come down to the city. We cannot seem to catch a break.

Now for my big news, I am finally someone. Really, I am not kidding, yesterday I got a gold Starbucks card, and for every 15 stars, I get a free drink, and I get 2 hours of free wi-fi a day. Of course, some might say that it means I spend too much money at Starbucks. It is not my fault that Starbucks is right around the corner from my gym and a skinny cinnamon dolce is only 90 calories, and it is the only place to get a latte after my workout? I like to reward myself for sweating. I really hate sweating.

That is not the only thing, I also received a platinum American Express Card. It has been a while since I have had a credit card and I plan on this being the only one and I am only using it for emergencies and concert and baseball tickets. You know the very important stuff.

Today I had to go out in the field with MVACW and the intern to collect mercury samples. Well, water samples that are going to be sampled for mercury. Anyway, I went to change into my work boots and didn’t have any socks. I normally keep them in my desk drawer. So I ran out to buy some, and all I could find were knee-hi’s so I bought a pack and wore two on each foot. That worked out so well I might wear them every time I have to wear my boots. Then after we were done sampling we got something to eat in Chinatown. Not a very exciting time, but I always like getting out of the office, especially on such a nice day.

>Damage from the snow storm

>Everyone has heard about the big snow storm. 2 to 3 feet of snow, trees down leading to power out and so on and so forth. After the snow stopped and things got somewhat back to normal, I walked around and took some pictures of the damage. I have to warn you some of these images may be disturbing to some people (tree huggers).

This is the big tree across the street from our house,

and these are the branches that fell from it. They are still there, since this is a private development we have to rely on our landlord to clear stuff like this up. This is the same landlord that didn’t pave our driveway when he paved everybody else’s and whose guys, when they came to clear the snow out of our drive gouged a big hole that promptly filled up with water and was big enough to lose my car in.

Anyway, on to the next site.

This is across the main road, the road one turns off to get to our house. You can see the tree just broke in two and the top half came down into the fence, this is also where the power lines are, as you can see. This tree is also still there. When they come to remove this tree, which will have to be done, and I think the power company is the one who will do it, they will have to shut off power to these lines. Which means, no power for us. Hopefully it will be when it is a warmer and we will have advance warning.

You can see, besides being a hazard to the power lines, it is also blocking the sidewalk. I was going to post more pictures, but I think this is enough.
