>Chilly Sunday

>I am sitting here in the cold under my blankets while typing this. I am a silly girl, ’cause if I just stood up I could close my window and I wouldn’t be so cold. However I would rather just sit here and try to warm up with a blanket and warm laptop on my lap! I don’t think that is what the laptop computer was designed for.

Tigger was sending me texts, except they were blank. I answered and asked why, no answer just another blank text. So I finally said, “You’re texts are all blank.” I’m not answering any more, I got another blank text then a “Sry about that”. He must have had it in is pocket instead of the holder and the send button kept getting pushed or something like that.

There is an update for my phone that I need to get installed but I forgot to go to Verizon yesterday and get it done. I will try to remember to do that today. I ordered a book from the library but I don’t think it is in yet. I need to go there too to pay my fine so I will ask them about it.

Right now I need to sweep and mop, except it is almost time to get ready for church. Don’t want to be late again. I will be back later.

I didn’t make it to the library, I did get to Verizon but they couldn’t install the update so I am getting a new phone. I am trying to talk myself into going to Allsport. It should be easy since the alternative is sitting here listening to D yell at the kids while he is building the shed. I guess T never showed up to help. I get really annoyed at people who say they will do something then just don’t show up. Well, it’s not really my business. I really feel like going to Border’s after I work out. I really shouldn’t ’cause I don’t need books and I should be saving my money. Gwen yelled at Tigger this morning for asking me for cinnamon gum. Told him not to ask me for things, I have to save my money for my move.

>I decided

>I started reading Sleep No More by Greg Iles. It is not the type of book that I would normally read, and after Mortal Fear, I wasn’t sure I would like it. So far I do and I will continue to read it, but I am not sure if I will finish it. I might even get more books by him. Not buy, but borrow from the library.

That reminds me, I need to check the Queens library to see if my other book is in. They haven’t fixed my e-mail address so I am not getting notifications from them when my books come in.

I was just reading one of the blogs I follow and she had a story about a dead snake in a classroom and the teacher told the student to put it in the outside trash can. Someone commented she was getting Americanized because she should have said dust bin. It reminded me of when I made a carrot cake for Tom and it didn’t turn out. I told someone about the cake and she asked me, was any of it salvageable, I remember I said, “No, it went straight into the dust bin.” She looked at me like I was speaking a foreign language. I have no idea why I said that since I’m not British, maybe I had been watching BBC America the night before.

One more thing before I go, I think a skunk has taken refuge under our back deck, I heard some noises earlier, it is raining now and there is a terrible smell coming in my window, smell like wet skunk.

>Here’s an easy challenge!

>Check out this challenge! It’s at MyFriendAmy’ blog and it challenges us to get a nonreader to read and us already readers to read more! Here are Amy’s ROE!

It’s called the Read One Book Challenge.

Here are the rules.

1) Read one book you have never read before by December 31st, 2008.

2) This book must not be a children’s book that you are reading to your kids. It must be a book for you.

3) This book may not be part of work related research. This book is for you.

4) It can be fiction or nonfiction.

5) Please leave a comment telling me you’re joining in and write a post linking back to this post to invite others to join in as well (if you have a blog, if not just leave a comment!).

6) For bonus points, spend an evening at a Barnes and Noble, Borders, or local independent bookshop browsing through books. (apparently there’s a huge percentage of people who don’t go to bookstores, either)

7) When you’ve completed your book write a post about it and I’ll link to it here!

If you are like Amy and read 2-4 books a week, please still join in though you’ll probably complete the challenge a lot faster than others. One ten dollar Amazon gift card will be awarded through random drawing to a person who signs up and completes the challenge on time.

So get thee over and sign up!!

>I know I have mentioned this before, I keep hoping that if I keep saying it, it will eventually sink into my little pea brain, 15 minutes is not enough time to pee, put in my contacts, wash my face, brush my teeth, get dressed and put on my makeup. Oh and if you have an extra 5 minutes, that is not enough time to go online or clean the litter box! Sorry Butterscotch.

And the day did not get any better. The train was late leaving GCT, by about 40 minutes! Oy. And today is one of the days that Stitch takes my car so I had to call Em to not come get me because the train was late but she didn’t get the call until she was at the train station. Anyway, I did not go to the meeting tonight, Tigger didn’t either, he wasn’t feeling well. It didn’t stop him from eating two bowls of Tootsie Rolls though. And I finally got my songs. I took my MP3 player upstairs and downloaded them from the computer. He would never have sent them. I didn’t sign the computer out of the Amazon account, I need to do that next.

The delay was O.K. in one sense, though, I finished reading The Devil’s Right Hand Man.

Now I have to decide which one of three books I have I will read next.

>Helter Skelter

>I don’t remember what that refers to but I just bought the book at B&N. I find it very interesting that a book written in 1974 is still sought after today. Several people recommended it, and I thought, I should read it since I love Charlie Manson, wait, that didn’t come out right. I am fascinated by him. His control over others. He was a little guy, same height as me, talk about a Napoleon complex!

It is the #1 True Crime Bestseller of All Time (according to the cover) and “One of the best crime stories ever written.” — Chicago Sun – Times Showcase. So I am reading it, well I read a little in it, I have some other books to read first. A library book and some other TC books I bought and I also have some DVD’s I got from the library that I need to watch. But since I now own it, I can read it at my leisure. Or all at once as I sometimes do.

>Book Club Girl is giving away ten copies of Philippa Gregory’s newest novel The Other Queen, plus ten Book Club Girl mousepads.

Check out the giveaway at Book Club Girl here.

Just had to adjust the time zone on this blog. When I posted my comment to enter to win this book, I wrote which books of hers I have read (if you are interested, check out the list on the right). I haven’t read any of her historical fiction about the royal family. I liked all the books by her I have read though. I am sure a lot of people will enter.

I also sent an e-mail to Peter Robinson. I have no idea why, I have never done, well, actually, I have been posting to Gary C. King on Shelfari.

Win a book

Hi there my friends and readers, I entered a contest to win a book. This is one of the ways to enter, by posting about it on my blog. The books are Tess Gerritsen. Go to Jen’s Bookshelf to see it and enter for yourself. I found out about the contest on Shelfari. I don’t need more books, but I love getting free stuff. Like the free Pill compacts I got from Ortho Tri-Cyclen Low, and the thing to pour your beer to get a perfect head on it, when I don’t drink that brand of beer!

finders keepers

When I was listing my books on Amazon to sell, I found my purple bookmark in the shape of a flower with the heart in the middle. So now I have 3 really cool bookmarks. I don’t have three books to read though. I mean I do, but I don’t.

its getting worse

I am feeling worse and worse as the day goes on. I am doing my best to make it to 4:30 or at least 4:00. I was feeling really light headed before lunch and that has sort of passed. I have eaten, drank milk, taken Tylenol® and used my inhaler. I can’t go to bed when I get home because I have to get a envelope for a book I sold on Amazon. I also have to get a book for a book club read. I have to go now.

Before I went to get the envelope, I checked my e-mail, and I had sold another one. So I bought 2 envelopes and will mail them tomorrow. Before I left work I remembered that there is a bookstore in GCT, so I stopped there and got “A Descent Into Hell” by Kathryn Casey. She is a new true crime author, well, new to me.

Em made chicken and rice pilaf, not for me, but it is good for upset stomach so it was for me! The dress and top she ordered came today, she is really pleased with them. We have tickets for Top of the Rock and I made reservations at Tavern on the Green. I think I may have already said this. It is going to be a great day.

Well, I have updated my list of books read. I need to go to bed now since it is midnight and I have a headache.

Phone not working

Well, not really, I just have problems if I go online. I thought it might be because I now have 1,000 messages in my AOL inbox, but when I signed off and tried to send a text, the phone froze up so I had to take the battery out to use the phone, I couldn’t even turn it off. So now I am just killing time because I am so tired and I just want to go home.

It was raining so heavy this morning the backyard looked like the everglades. Except no gators.

When I got home, Tigger wanted to look at my phone to see what it was doing, of course, it didn’t make the lines across the touch screen when he was playing with it. No, couldn’t misbehave for beloved Tigger could it?

I am almost done with Murder in the Adirondacks. I have finished the account of the murder and trial and execution, now he is writing about how the novel “An American Tragedy” came about.

Got the score for the football game: Steelers 21, Bills 24

And Cookie sent me an e-mail, could it be Grace is taking a supplement and that is why she is losing so much weight? I mean, 25 pounds in 5 weeks. I keep forgetting to ask M about it. I am sure she would have an opinion. I told her about the Chipotle flavored olive oil, so of course she had me get some for her, then she put it in her oil mister thing so she could spray it on her popcorn. I didn’t try any, but I am sure it is delish.
