>Something I wonder about

>why do people drive stupid?

I was driving to the train (I know I said I get dropped off, but I do the driving. Stitch drives the car back home from the train station.) At the light where I turn left, there was a car waiting to turn right, it is a no turn on red, the driver had pulled forward under the light, so he couldn’t see when the light turned green. Does that make sense to you? You can’t go until the light turns green, but you don’t wait where you can see the light. It doesn’t make sense to me.

This mornings commute was fine, not like yesterday’s. Yesterday I missed my train, then when I got to GCT the #7 train wasn’t running. I wanted to wait on the platform until it was but the MTA person kept telling us to ‘go upstairs and take …’ and then whatever alternate route we had to take. So up I went to the #6 then the switch to the E or V, of course what always happens in this situation is by the time my boss gets to the city the #7 is fixed. Then he says to me, “I didn’t have any problem with the subway.” He thinks he is being funny. Ha ha really funny.

>Another WTF moment from Governor Dave

>Paterson’s Ethics Breach Is Turned Over to Prosecutors

Messing with my Yankees! He better be careful.

>WTF was he thinking?

>Just another brief post on our Governor. I am trying to avoid violating any copyrights, so I am posting the title of the article and a link to it in ~The New York Times~ and the title is “Paterson Said to Direct Aides to Influence Abuse Case”. I can’t promise I won’t post anymore about this because as I have said before, the man is an idiot and there is no telling what else he has done to shoot his political career.

I am sure Elliot is banging his head right now.

>More debate

>I posted about this previously, now of course there is more on it. Instead of posting the whole article, I have included a link for those of you interested.

Who decides about mammograms? Inside the task force

CNN

>WTF?

>This changes everything.
WHY couldn’t have they decided this BEFORE I turned 40, not just before I turn 50?

In Reversal, U.S. Guidelines Urge Mammograms at 50, Not 40

Most women should start regular breast cancer screening at age 50, not 40, according to new guidelines released Monday by an influential group that provides guidance to doctors, insurance companies and policy makers.

The new recommendations reverse longstanding guidelines and are aimed at reducing harm from overtreatment, according to the group, the United States Preventive Services Task Force. It also says women age 50 to 74 should have mammograms less frequently — every two years, rather than every year. And it said doctors should stop teaching women to examine their breasts on a regular basis.

>Time Square and frustration at City College

>Tuesday I had my SEFA kick-off luncheon/award ceremony (I didn’t win an award). They used to have the two events separate, but because of the ‘economic condition’ now they are one event. I got my invitation, complete with a response sheet and directions in the mail. To get there I had to go through Time Square, there was this performer, he was wearing a skeleton suit(black outfit with skeleton in white painted/printed on it) and a white mask (like Phantom or Jason but not at professional looking) and a white hat. The hat had the Yankee logo on it, but it was in white, outlined in black. I spent the next 10 minutes wondering if he was trying to curse the Yankees. I decided it was just for Halloween.

I got a late start for the SEFA thing because Joe DiMura and Koon Tang were in the office and wanted to meet with staff, then we had an emergency drill. Then I had a little trouble with the stellar(heavy sarcasm) directions they provided, “1 to 137th Street at Broadway. Walk south …. and walk east … to Convent Ave. and 135th Street.” There was no indication about which way you should go. From where I was standing I could see a street number sign ‘141’. The address was ‘150’, so I thought the Hall where the luncheon was would be on the other side of the street. So I started walking down the street, the wrong way at first, then I turned around and stayed on the side of the street opposite of 141. The event was at City College and I eventually realized that all the College building were on the opposite side of the street, so I crossed over, I kept walking, I walked 5 blocks ending up past the college. So once again I turned around. By now it was 30 minutes past when I should have been there. As I got almost to 135th Street I noticed a sign that said ‘Aaron Davis Hall’, the reason I didn’t see it was because I was on the other side of the street, 150 Convent Ave was next to 141 Convent Ave, not across the street!

After the program was over instead of going back to work I went downtown and did some shopping. I knew I would be too stressed afterwards, (their directions always suck, I won’t tell you about the last time) I went to Yankee Clubhouse and Sephora, the only thing I bought was a Yankees headband for the cold weather. Gwen saw it when I got home and wants one.

Tonight the Phillies beat the Dodgers, so the Phillies are going to the World Series. That is good, Em and I wanted them to beat the Dodgers.

>Wouldn’t you know

>that as soon as I sent that e-mail post I would remember what I had wanted to say. So here goes, this morning I saw a weird thing at GCT.

There was this man with either a design shaved into his hair or a tattoo on the back of his head, and it was a skull! So he had eyes and nose and creepy teeth looking at you while he walked away from you.
I was trying to find a skull picture to post here, but they were all too creepy, well there was this really cool purple one, but I wasn’t able to copy it.

>My walk to work and a WTF?

>I took these pictures the other day, with my NEW camera, and I just don’t get it.

For those of you who don’t know, I work in Queens, NY. I take the train to the city (GCT) then the subway to Queens (which is part of NYC, unless you live in Manhattan). When I get off the subway, I have to walk across 6 lanes of traffic past the Pulaski Bridge. A side street, the turn lane (1)[leads to the bridge], two lanes going one direction (2,3)[one side of the bridge], two lanes the other direction (4,5)[the other side of the bridge] and lastly the turn lane coming off the bridge (6). Now it used to be that this had to be navigated without benefit of a crosswalk or traffic signals. Then one day, I noticed all these warning cones up and men with yellow vests and big machines. They were installing walk signals and painting a crosswalk. But they did more.

See what they did? They removed part of the curb and put in a ramp, I’m guessing for wheelchairs. This is past the first turn lane, and this was not always like this. Now after you cross the two lanes going over the bridge, there is a medium and there . . .

They made a nice little path. The next patch of concrete is like the first, they took out the curb and put a ramp, and then you come to . . .

a CURB! Can you imagine, you’re in a wheelchair and you go over the first ramp and then through and up and over again, you moving along all nice and happy (relatively speaking of course) and then all of a sudden, a freaking curb? WTF?

The car is in the way, the curb goes down on the other side so you can roll up it, but still, they removed the curbs on the other ones, why not here? Why do you have to go around the corner on this side, the busy side of the road? Hmmm?
These pictures were taken the morning after my mom told me about how in the town next to her the town put in a totally unnecessary round about. And then the town that she lives in, not to be outdone put in one of their own, not only unnecessary but too small for the trucks to get around. That is probably why I finally noticed this.

I stayed home from work today cause I was not feeling good. Stayed in bed reading a book. One of my favorite things to do. When I finished the book I pulled out my laptop so I could write my review, I was reading a blog and wanted to add it to my following list, but I couldn’t. The ‘follow blog’ wasn’t working, so I copied the url and went to my dashboard, where it told me that I wasn’t following any blogs. WTF? Yes I am! So I posted a message about it and got this response:

This is a known issue:

The Friend Connect team is working on repairing it.

What that means, I have no idea.

That wasn’t the only problem I had today. Have I ever mentioned I hate word verification? Not just on here. I was trying to send a text from my computer instead of my phone, just because I didn’t feel like picking up my phone, they have word verification. I was typing it in as I saw it, 5 times it said I was wrong and locked me out! It wasn’t a total disaster, I just sent the text with my phone.

I could go on (and on, and on) but like I didn’t say, I have to go take care of things I have been forgetting to do.

>I don’t understand this. I have been getting this message from some blogs, the blogs are in my follow list, and I can read them in Google reader, but when I go to the blog, I don’t see me in the little follow widget thing. So I click on follow button, thinking maybe I need to click on it for my pic to show up and I get this message.

What is really strange, is these are bloggers that are following me. So if they are following me, shouldn’t I be allowed to follow them?

I am very confused.
