>A salute to saline

>Saline is wonderful stuff.

When we were kids we used to gargle with it when we lost a tooth. I’ve also heard it touted as a treatment for sore throats.

My piercer recommends it for cleaning piercings.

It works well for washing the snot out of your nose. Oh should I have said mucus from your nostrils? Same thing.

What? You want more? That’s all I got.

>Pictures this time

>Saturday Em and I were back in the city for our bi-weekly trip. This time I remembered my camera so I have pictures to post.

First we wandered through Bryant Park’s Holiday shops. Lots of cool and pretty stuff.

There was a sign that said, “Snap a pic and post on Facebook.” So I did, if you look on my Facebook you’ll see it. Then I realized they meant for you to post on THEIR Facebook. Oops.

Then we went to Sabrina’s so Em could get her nails done, we were surprised, the scaffolding around their building is gone. Amy said it had been up for two years. Looks so different, but you can see the sign in their window now.

The trees have lost their leaves.

Ashley said this place has some amazing artists. It is on St. Marks Place which is where the restaurant we were going to is.

Our next stop was Kaia House, ‘organic skin, body, baby, men, hair, make-up, pet. Click on the picture to go to their website. I bought some eye cream. It is fabulous.

Then we went to see Ashley at Maria Tash on Broadway in NoHo. If you click on the picture and then zoom it, you can see the sign for her store at the very bottom. After stopping at Starbucks and waiting ‘forevah’ for a latte, I was there. Of course Em was already there, waiting and pissed cause my phone battery was dead so she couldn’t yell at me.

Then we headed up Broadway to GCT. Did some shopping on the way, we both had coupons. She got a skirt and I got a pair of jeans at the Gap.

It was a long tiring but fun day.

>Shaving is the pits

>That’s why I don’t shave them. My pits that is. Before you get all grossed out and weird on me, I don’t have hairy pits. There are other means of hair removal.

Unfortunately I have discovered that where my legs are concerned, I have to shave. Get this, and don’t hate me, the hair on my legs is very fine and thin. I used to use an electric shaver, when it died I bought an epilator (which is now for sale) but it doesn’t grab the hair on my legs. So I bought a new shaver that for some reason while it shaves the hair in my bikini line area, doesn’t work on my lower legs. Which are the part of my legs that show so that’s where I really want it to!

So I bought a razor and shaved my legs. Since I haven’t shaved my legs with a razor since God knows when (cause I sure don’t), I cut myself in 5 places and ended up with razor rash.

Just so much fun being a girl!

>Branching out

>

Em made her nail appointment for Monday because D left for Florida on Sunday. I left work to meet up with her. On the way to meet her I stopped at Sephora, I got a set of eyeliner pencils in cool colors. After the nail appointment we went down to see Ashley. I took the subway since I was wearing my dress boots and Em walked. I got there before Em and decided to replace on my studs with a ring. I got black gold with cubic zirconium.

After that we went for dinner at a ‘fast food pasta place’ Hello Pasta. I got gluten-free pasta with sauce with sausage and peas. It was very good. Em says, if she lived near there she would eat there all the time. After dinner we went to another place Em had a groupon for called Flute. Read my review here. Then we headed back to Grand Central Terminal.

My feet hurt so bad, I am wearing my sneakers today and feet still hurt.

>A cover-up

>The last place I went to get my hair dyed used the wrong stuff. They put temporary dye on my hair. Hello, I am covering gray hair I need the permanent dye. This happened three times so I said, No More. Another thing that happened was I would tell them, Please be careful, I just got my ears pierced. The stylist would promise, then proceed to drag the towel over my ears. OWWIE!

So I started doing it myself. Again. It was o.k. for a while, then I got tired of the mess, and having to search the store for my color and panicking when I couldn’t find it and getting dye in my eyes and on my ears and neck and so I started searching for a place to get it done.

The first place I went was on 5th Avenue. One of those places were the guys hand out flyers on the street. I decided to get a hair cut and see how I liked it. I didn’t. My roots started to get long and so I colored my hair myself again.

Last Wednesday I was at the mall with Gwen, I checked out the two hair places, asking for prices on hair coloring. I decided I would try out Unisex Hair Palace. So tonight after work I went up there. After finding out what I wanted (the roots covered) Lynne (?) took me back. She did a fabulous job. Color is great, she dried it to perfection, and without my saying anything, she was very careful working around my ears. She did hurt them a little bit, but there was no way she could avoid it.

She also explained that if I had wanted a different color, there would not have been enough time to do a color change before they closed. Since I was keeping it the same color it wasn’t a problem. Another thing I liked was at this place the haircut was included, I had to pay extra because my hair is long, but I have to pay extra every where I go.

Now my hair is beautiful, and I didn’t have to do it!

>Yesterday & Today

>Yesterday Em had planned to go to the Today show to see Chris Daughtrey. Since I was going with her, I scheduled my nail appointment for today instead of Friday. Actually, the reason was they were thinking about going to the game last night. Which they didn’t. Anyway, we didn’t go to the Today show either. Em, Jellybean and I did go to the city, we went on the Shark, a speedboat tour of the sites around NY Harbor. It was a blast.

We did some other walking around but Jellybean was acting bored so we came home early.

Long and short of it is, I could have gotten my nails done last night anyway and not come down here. So now I have to spend time in Manhattan all on my own. What a hardship. **innocent face**

So I am doing what I always do when I need to kill time, going online at the library. Today I am at the Mid-Manhattan Library instead of the big one with the lions. There is a crazy man here, he was yelling at me a while ago. Some lady came by and told him to be quiet or he couldn’t keep using the computers.

If I get to the Apple store, I will probably check in here again.

>What’s the deal people?

>I don’t remember if I mentioned this before, but I can’t stand this current trend of visible bra straps. I’m not talking a strap slipping out, I’m talking always visible, a woman wearing a t-back top and a bra with regular straps. I asked a male friend if thought that was ‘sexy’ . No, was his quick answer. So why do it? Do they already have a man so don’t feel like they need to try anymore? Are they trying to show the world they are independent women and don’t have to conform to what society dictates? What happened to personal pride in your appearance? That’s why I always try to wear the correct bra, because I think it looks bad to have your straps showing and I care about how I look.

>Saturday weigh in

>I didn’t report last weeks weight because I was up, which upset me. Not that I wasn’t expecting it, I was actually expecting it to be more, just upset at how I ate to cause the up. But I was -1.6 pounds this week for a grand total of -3.2 pounds and I am now below 140 yay! Happiness.

Now I am heading down to NYC get my tattoo. I am very nervous, I always get this way before a tattoo. Start wondering if I should really be doing this … I have no regrets, yet.

>Two things of note from yesterday

>I went to my first Weight Watchers meeting. I have finally realized that I can’t do it on my own or do it online. So I have taken the plunge and paid for the monthly pass and I will lose these 25 pounds. So that’s it. And since I write everything about my life on here, I will of course keep you updated.

After the meeting Em and I went to the Yankee game, they won and then we went to Manhattan, walked through Central Park and Madison to GCT. Stopped at Bolton’s and Sephora, I bought eye shadow and didn’t check the color so I got the wrong color. Don’t know if I can return it, but I’m going to try. Then Annie Moore’s for dinner and then home.

A very good day.

>You are all probably bored with my posts about Saturday in Manhattan, this post is about a FRIDAY in Manhattan. Which actually started on Thursday and cost me an extra night cause D made the reservation for the wrong night. I was seriously pissed, not just at him but at me for not checking the date when I got the confirmation e-mail.

Friday morning we got up early and went to the Today show. We had fan passes so we were able to get up close. Doesn’t help much when everyone is taller then you, blah! I did manage to get close enough to get my pass signed by Ryan for Em. She is so happy now. Afterward we walked around trying to figure out where to go for lunch. Fred needed new earbuds so we went to the Apple store, and by the time I thought of coming on here to blog, Em was saying, we’re leaving. So I typed the title and saved it, then ended up deleting it when I didn’t get here until today.

Unfortunately I couldn’t get my nail appointment moved so I had to kill some time. I thought about going to a movie, but the theater I found wasn’t playing anything I wanted to see. So I went to The Strand and bought a couple books. Then after my nail appointment I came home. And now I have blisters all over my toes.
