>Still cold

>in the 40’s F today, that would make it about 10° Celsius I believe. So not as cold as yesterday, but still too cold for April! In my humble opinion. Stitch is so cute, after I complained when I asked him how cold it was and his answer was ‘sort of coldish’. He now comes downstairs in the morning to give me a temperature report. This morning it was 44° F. So in his words, not very cold. I think I am going to have to dig out my velvet pants and ivory sweater for Phantom, I don’t think it will be warm enough to wear a dress next Wednesday.

This morning, leaving the subway I had to take the other stairs, the stairs I normally take are closed for repair. The stairs I am now taking bring me out on the side of the street where my office is, unfortunately that is also the side with no sidewalk. So I have to cross the Pulaski Bridge, (6 lanes) with no crosswalk. Not a problem you say? Well normally not, but this morning there was a gazillion traffic cops on the street. OK, maybe only 20 or so, but that meant instead of crossing the bridge, I crossed Jackson Street to where I could cross the bridge with a crosswalk and then crossed back Jackson to go to my office. All so I would not upset the nice (grr) people with the bright yellow safety vests and white kid gloves. And guns. I think they had guns, I try not to stare at them. This afternoon when I walked back to get lunch there was only two there. Maybe the rest were at lunch?

I wanted to let you know I am not ignoring your request for a picture of my hair, there are three reasons I haven’t posted one.

(1) I didn’t get a new hairstyle, I just got the gray roots dyed red and the rest of my hair color refreshed (red is the worst for fading according to the stylist), so my hair looks pretty much the same as in my profile pic.

(2) My face is still broken out from the rosacea and I will be dipped in hot oil before I post a pic of me with red bumps on my face.

(3) I have no one to take the picture so I have to set up the camera with the timer and for the above two reasons I haven’t felt like doing it.

I will be posting a pic for the spring, I like to change my pic with the seasons, but it is still cold here!

>Last day of March started out cold

>32º per weather bug, 31º per the sign by the school. Then I had to stop for a roadblock on the road down to the train. It is enough to make one swear. But I didn’t, not really. I was just wondering what kind of idiot police department conducts a roadblock at 6:00 in the morning when people are trying to get to work. I guess they were finding what they were looking for since there were a few vehicles pulled over. I have current inspection and current registration so can’t stop me. :p

Then to my doctor’s office for my appointment and as I was waiting I was wondering what was making that buzzing noise? It was my phone, LOL, sometimes I amuse myself. Then when I got on the train at GCT to come to work the train just buzzed by my stop. Seems like whenever I get on the train in the middle of the day to come to work I get an express and end up at Queensboro Plaza.

When I got off the train I went to the Deli and got my lunch sandwich and then came to work, rest of the day was ho-hum normal except for a few little snags that I will have to work out tomorrow and then I will tell you. Right now I have to fly quick to go home.

>Is it Spring yet?

>According to the calendar, today is the first day of Spring. So what do I see as I look out my window? Blue skies? Robins? Crocuses? No, I see the same thing I saw looking out the window of the train as I was coming into work, snow. Yes it is snowing here in New York on the first day of Spring.

I had originally typed this while having a ‘sit n sip’ at Starbucks. Another person was having a ‘sit n snooze’, not that I’m judging, I was doing that on the train. Then I went ‘back’ and lost everything, that is the kind of day I have been having, forgot my oatmeal, which I had put in a bag and put next to my work bag, and my library books, not one I’m reading, the ones I was going to give Stitch in case he took Gwen to the library so they could be returned. Also in a bag by my work bag. When I looked out the window and saw snow, I thought, well this is just perfect, snow and I am wearing the wrong outerwear again!

>Signs of Spring

>Officially the first day of Spring is Friday, 20 March 2009, I have been reading about how people decide its Spring or what they feel is a sign of Spring. For some its when they see the birds flying about or flowers blooming. The black capped chickadees are in the trees and the crocuses are blooming, a couple weeks ago in Central Park, Em and I saw these flowers, I think she said they were ‘Snowdrops’, pretty little white flowers, they bloom before the crocuses in Spring. I used to say, that for me, the first sign of Spring was an itchy nose and watery eyes. That is not the case so much anymore since I am getting allergy shots.

Now, for me, the first sign of Spring is, and I know you are waiting for this, ants in the cat food. Now, I keep his food in a plastic container so far no ants in there, the cat food I am talking about is the cat food that Butterscotch scatters all over the floor. Then from there, they find the bowl and **yuck! I hate ants!** then I have to throw out the bowl of food. This year I moved the bowl to the step next to the toilet, so far they have not found the bowl. I have told Butterscotch that if he didn’t leave his food all over the floor the ants wouldn’t come. I think he hates ants too since he will not go near the bowl when the ants are in it. However this has not stopped him from scattering his food. He must either (a) not understand me or (b) know that I will clean up the food and get rid of the ants. I have put out the ant traps, I don’t know if they will work because (a) I just threw them in the wall space behind the loose board in the bathroom instead of carefully setting them down since I was getting ready for work and was rushed, (b) they are left over from last year, I bought two boxes and never opened the second since the ants didn’t come back after the first traps were put out. So now my morning routine consists of, bathroom, contacts, brush teeth, clean up ants and cat food, get dressed, put on makeup and jewelry, leave for train. I really need to get up earlier.

>6:18 a.m.

>Back to my regular schedule today. Stitch dropped me off and I caught the 6:18 train to NYC. I have to get back in the routine since next month I might have to catch the 5:57. If things go the way I want that is. Now you may be wondering why someone who HATES to get up in the morning wants to leave a half hour earlier. It is the compressed work week I mentioned before, compressed work week is what the State calls it. I call it the 9/10 schedule, where I will be working 9 days instead of 10 in a pay period, which means longer days but a day off every other week.

It was in the 40’s when I left the house so I didn’t wear my scarf, now I wish I had since it feels colder here. Probably the damp is holding the temperature down and it is not really colder, just feels that way. Its raining now and I have to go out for lunch, I hopes it stops.

Oh and I was 138.0 this morning. With my sweat shirt on. I was too cold to take it off and weigh myself. Didn’t want to stand there in the cold. The first time I weighed myself I was 136.6, but the scale shifted when I stood on it, so I moved it so to where it would not shift and then I was 138, which is probably correct.

>Nice day today

>I woke up with a headache, and a voice mail message from someone I was supposed to meet at a friends house 30 minutes earlier, I will have to apologize tomorrow. I also had a stomach ache. Both were related to the fact that I am a girl. Enough said about that.

Last night I went up to JoAnn’s to get fabric. Saw Alex and Doreen there, so I didn’t get to the rest of the places I wanted to go. I did get fabric for my new bag, that I am now going to make myself since Em is working on clothes for Puerto Rico. When I showed her the fabric today, she thought it was very nice and pretty and would make a good bag. She also thanked me for the rings I gave her, she said, “I like these cheap rings.” Then I showed her the choker I got, silver heart with black cords tied to it. Gwen looked at me and said, “You do realize you’re not a teenager anymore?” to Gwen!

We went to the library, I wanted to get out of the house, but I still wanted to go online. So I did stuff online and Gwen looked for DVD’s. She got three, after finding out there was NO LIMIT to the number she could get. This was after she told me there was a limit of 3 books and I told her, that’s funny cause right now I have 6 books out. Then we were going to come home but Em wasn’t home, so we got lunch.

It was a very nice day so we got hamburgers from this restaurant with a chalkboard menu and grass-fed beef from cattle that were treated nice (or something weird like that, Gwen read it on the menu) then went to the park to read. Had a bit of shock when we discovered that some of the picnic tables have been removed. There used to be some at the top of the hill and the back of park near the Junior High School, they were gone, there were only picnic tables in the covered area near the playground. What I thought was weird was the grills were still there, so you could come cook your hamburgers, but couldn’t sit and eat them.

Then Gwen wanted chips to eat while we watched the movies. So we went up to Hannaford’s, I also took the opportunity to go to Sally’s to get nail stuff, which included some blue nail polish (did I mention a nail came off yesterday? I have to repaint my nails now since I wasn’t able to glue it back on. I tried using clear nail polish, didn’t work.) and to take Gwen to the bank.

It was a bad idea, I forgot about the St. Patrick’s Day Parade. Am I the only one who finds it odd to have a St. Patrick’s Day Parade on March 7th? Gwen was wondering why since St. Patrick’s Day is an Irish holiday we celebrate it here. Sometimes I wonder what she did in school, cause I don’t think she was listening to her teachers.

We finally made it home, after a 40 minute drive that normally takes 20. Em was sleeping, she went to a S** L** party at Pam’s and Tim was pouring, enough said about that too! So we watched one of the DVD’s, and which one did we watch? Stitch insisted on Anne of Green Gables.

It was such a nice day, it was hard to believe we got this on Monday.

>Decisions

>So I am sitting here all cozy in my panties and sweatshirt, I’m under 4 fleece blankets FYI, trying to decide if I should go out in the -1 windchill to go to work or pretend to be sick for another day and stay home.

On the one hand, I really like staying warm in my bed, on the other hand, I can’t stay in bed all day and I am feeling a little guilty. Of course, it could be a moot point if the roads are too icy to get to the train station.

MetroNorth said it would be a regular schedule today. So here goes, I am getting up now.

>Snow day

>I didn’t go to work today, I had a snow day. OK, I don’t really get snow days, but the kids and Em had a snow day so I stayed home too. The weather man (actually, we have Janice, who is not a man) was right, we got all the snow and cold temps forecast. Tomorrow promises to be colder so I might stay home tomorrow too. I am getting over my cold and I don’t want to go out in the cold. Tomorrow morning might be O.K. even if its cold since I won’t have to clean off my car which I would have had to do today.

Also, the trains were having trouble today. MetroNorth and the Subway, MetroNorth says that tomorrow will be the regular schedule. So I might go to work anyway, brave the cold like a good girl.

Em and I watched Full Metal Jacket today, I rented it from iTunes. This afternoon I took my car out for a run to warm it up and see how the roads were, I was going to drive to the train station and completely forgot. Anyway, I took Gwen with me, she had fun playing with my i-pod. She wants one for herself, mainly because she is tired of buying batteries. We got gas in my car, I went to the library, I was surprised it was open. Then I decided to go to Borders, on the way there I remembered I wanted to go to SuperCuts to see if they would sign my card from the last time I got my hair colored and forgot to have them sign it. Then as I was driving past Staples I remembered I needed paper for my printer. So we stopped at Staples, along with the paper I got a 3 color pen/pencil (I think I just broke the pencil part). Unfortunately the other two places I wanted to go were closed. So we went to the grocery store and then home.

Gwen and I are getting really good at wii bowling.

Why?

Yesterday I went out to lunch in the cold snowy weather, very icky, I was wearing my crocs and not the fuzzy ones and no socks. In my head I wrote a blog post complete with snazzy title and calling myself an intrepid girl reporter and bemoaning the fact that I didn’t check the weather report and so didn’t have the proper footwear but had worn my gray jacket. As you can see the post never made it here.

This post that was in my head never made it to my blog and if you are a regular reader you know this is not the first time this has happen. What I want to know is why? Why can’t it go from head to blog?
