Yankees are coming!

You will notice I put a countdown on my blog. This is to opening day Yankees vs. Red Sox in Boston, then I will change it to the first game that Em and I will be going to at Yankee Stadium. I tried very hard to get tickets to the home opener but it hasn’t happened yet. I don’t think its going to happen even though I will continue to try and check out websites.

Last year I promised to not blog about the Yankees. I have not kept that promise, I just stopped blogging here by making a blog on MLB.com. The blog is called: The Foxx Loves the Yankees. It is mostly about the Yankees, a little personal stuff thrown in so you know its me.

Another change I made to my blog is I widened it to accommodate the countdown widget. Also, the site where I got the widget has countdowns for many events, not just sports, if you want a countdown widget for your blog, check it out! Birthdays, anniversaries, graduation, wedding, all sorts of events, and sports too.

>Postcard Friendship Friday #4

>This is another of the postcards I bought while visiting my parents in Washington State. I like how this has a frame effect in it.

The back of it simply says:

The card I posted last week, I forgot to take a close look at the back, on its back is printed:

>And so do Cavo and Lifehouse. The concert was in Newark, NJ. Before we go on, I have to get this out of my system. Newark sucks. But then, IMHO, most of NJ sucks. We got all turned around getting to the concert so we were late, had no time to get something to eat. Em dropped us off so we could walk to the Prudential Center while she found someplace to park. Turned out she got there before us. I have to say, for as bad I think the city of Newark is, the people are really, really nice. They don’t know how to search you, but they were nice.

This is the ticket, if you click on it to enlarge it you will see these were not great seats, we were in Mezzanine seating, which is a fancy way of saying ‘up so high you can’t see sh*t’, in fact you don’t have to click on it I will tell you, we were in the top row at the facility, and, my seat was broken. It was O.K. as long as I sat very still.

Sometime during the concert, I think it was while Lifehouse was playing, a man came around asking us if we wanted to move down, they had tickets that weren’t sold so they were giving them away. This is the ticket for our new seats, Suite Level, one level up from the floor, nice seats. We had a great view for the rest of the concert.

As mentioned before, we got home late, the drive was better then when we were going to, I switched the GPS to fastest and it took us on the interstate, we only made one wrong turn and it didn’t take us long to fix it. Em says, she still doesn’t want to go back to Newark for any more concerts.

>Back to PFF and I missed Marie, so I am hoping to keep this more regular from now on.

There is a little story to this one, kind of personal if no one minds. My father is an alcoholic, has been since before I was born, he stopped drinking a few years back. I went to visit about a year after he quit drinking. My first time ever seeing him, not under the influence. So we went to the grocery store to get dinner because my mother was ‘not feeling well so lets pick something up so she doesn’t have to cook.’ HUH? OK Dad. My dad was looking at this postcard and said, ‘This guy has his priorities wrong.’ And all I could think was, well Dad, you should know about messed up priorities. I mean he never did anything like this, but for most of his life, he had his priorities messed up. Of course I had to buy it, because it reminds me that 70 years old my Dad made a major change for the better.

>Just another manic Monday

>I am probably showing my age by quoting that, eh who cares!

however, I do not wish it was Sunday since I woke up to a broken washing machine, a leaky faucet and went to bed with no shower because the pilot went out on the hot water tank.

Tonight I am going to Allsport even if it’s fixed so I can take a long hot one. Shower that is, I also desperately need to exercise.

>last night and this morning

>I have a hard time coming up with new and exciting titles.

I was going to do the PFF this week, but I haven’t hooked my scanner up to my new laptop yet and last night when I got home I just didn’t feel like it. I will have to tonight because I absolutely positively have to do my taxes.

Stitch wanted me to put some gas in the car so I asked the boy if he wanted to go to the Verizon store. Of course he said yes. I wanted to look at the Palm Pre again, he showed me this phone that looked indestructable. “That would be good for younger brother” I said. He agreed with me, then we looked at the Palm Pre and he was trying to show me stuff and I was trying to get him to leave me alone so I could play with it. I didn’t like the way it showed Twitter, he said the ap is better then the web (WTF?). I do like the way the Facebook ap looks. So I do believe I have decided on my next phone.

This morning I had an interesting commute. I normally don’t talk to the people on the train, I mean I say “Hello” or “Good morning”. Since I am not a morning person, by any stretch of the imagination, I am not very friendly in the morning, especially that early in the morning. Riding the same time and in the same car you see the same people. There is this woman that gets on where I do and gets off at Croton. This other man (who is also a regular) was saying he was looking for some new places to eat, she was talking about some places and she was talking about a fish restaurant in a blue building but she couldn’t remember the name of the restaurant, she told him, “Just google ‘fish restaurant in Croton’.” So he tried using voice command on his iPhone but it wasn’t working so I took out my phone went to Google and found the restaurant name for her. She was very appreciative and thanked me about 4 times. That always amazes me, people who are thankful for the least little thing.

>My Wednesday off

>Today is my regular Wednesday off and what am I doing? Sitting on my bed with my laptop and a box of tissue. No I am not watching a sad movie, I have a cold. On my day off! That totally stinks, except I won’t have to use a day of sick time. Except I probably would have gone into work if it wasn’t my day off and I could have infected everyone there. Bwaaaaaa!

Now I have to decide if I want to blog about the concert or Em and my trip to the city. The concert was last Thursday in Manhattan and when Em and I went to the city we did our usual, which you are probably tired of hearing about, so lets go with the concert.

First you’ll notice it was in a ballroom, not the nicest venue I’ve been in, but O.K. We were on the 7th floor, which was alright until we had to leave and walk down the stairs.

Security was really tight. I only had my purse, which I have started doing for concerts and such, only carry one bag, I put it down for the security person to check (and she really checked it, didn’t just glance in it) and turned so the other one could search me, just a quick pat down, checked my pockets and pant legs, as she was doing this the girl checking my purse said ‘OH!’ kind of loud, at first I thought she might have found my knife, but she was pulling on my camera bag and saying, “This is so nice! Look how pretty it is!” The other security girl comes over (hey, they looked like they were half my age, so they are girls) and she is talking about it, then she suddenly looks up at me waiting for her, and realizes they are holding the elevator for me, so she quickly stuffs it back in my purse and hands it to me. I thought that was funny.

For the encore the lead singer invited everybody up to the front which is how I got this nice picture. It would have been nicer except, see that big head? He was swaying back and forth in front of me. I hate when tall people do that! What? Yes I know, most adults are taller then me.
So that’s about it for the concert, we had a great time, I got to bed at 1:15 a.m., started my next day with a cinnamon latte instead of hot tea and oatmeal, but its all good.

>Post 1,031

>One day I looked at my dashboard and was amazed, I was over 1,000 post for just this blog. I wish I had noticed it when I made 1,000, I would have had a party. Not a contest. My last contest died a quiet death and I don’t believe anyone misses it.

What I really came on here to blog about was another e-mail I received. “Chase Utley News is now following you on Twitter!” Hey wait a minute, isn’t Chase Utley a Phillies player? Didn’t he score like 4 runs off of CC in game one of the 2009 World Series? So why does he want to follow me? When I go to check out his profile I see that he is also following “yankeesgame” Maybe he’s trying to keep track of the competition.

>rain or snow?

>That was going to be the title of yesterdays post. The one I was too tired to write. The stuff coming down was white like snow but felt like rain, like the sky couldn’t decide what it wanted to spit down on us.

Right now I am sitting in a ballroom on the seventh floor of the Manhattan center waiting for the concert to start. Em, the two boys are here and for once we are sitting together and the boys are being themselves. They got candy and when Em asked what else they have, some random candy. And when she asks are you really that stupid the answer is, no its just an illusion.
