>Postcard Friday #49

>In all the excitement of finding my ring and going to see Rob Thomas tonight, I almost forgot about Postcard Friday!

My parents live in Washington State, when I visit them I buy postcards to bring home, you know it saves all that time, driving out to see something, then not seeing anything because it rains all the time meaning there are rainclouds everywhere and you can’t see anything!

The back of the card says:
LAKE CRESCENT
OLYMPIC NATIONAL PARK
WASHINGTON
This view is from Storm King Mountain.
I find that insanely funny because there is a Storm King Mountain here in New York, right across the river from me. It is a lovely 14º Fahrenheit here (-10ºC), I wonder what the temperature is at that Storm King Mountain?

>In memoriam, 29 long years ago last Tuesday.

Bought this card on a trip to NYC at a bookstore in Grand Central Terminal, Posman Books. I went Tuesday to Strawberry Fields and left flowers.

>My parents just got back from Hawaii, they have been several times and NEVER taken me. Even when they had a free ticket, my mother just made another trip. This time my mother sent me this postcard.

This is something I hate, the post office putting these white stickers on the postcard and obscuring some of the picture. I mean there is a space on the back for that! Anyway this is “World Famous” Waikiki Beach, O’ahu. I wonder if the water is really that blue.

I followed MrCachet’s advise to try removing the sticker from the postcard and this is what I got.

PFF – Yankee Stadium

Last week I was in Brazil (postcard wise) now I am back home with some postcards of Yankee Stadium. No one sent them to me, I just bought them cause I am a Yankee fan.

Printed on the back of the card is “Yankee Stadium™ — The House That Ruth Built™ and home for the 26-time World Series Champion™ The New York Yankees™ since 1923.”

Yankee Stadium during the day.

Detail of the field.

The 26 years the Yankees won the World Series.

>I heard from Marie that she was very sick, but she is better now and is back to PFF, so here is my entry for this week.

You remember last week (or you can go back and check if you don’t, or not) that I posted about receiving two lovely postcards from my friend Ló, who I met on the website Shelfari. I posted one last week and this week is the second one.

I have posted the back this time, as she was written a little bit about the picture on the front of this postcard. I told Ló, that if I ever got to Brazil I was going to look her up. She said, “Please do.”

You notice that this postcard has the same beautiful stamps as the other one.

>I didn’t see a new post on Marie’s blog and I don’t know where else to look for one. So I hope she doesn’t mind that I am doing this on my own sort of.

When I went to the Yankee store to get my shirt to wear to the Yankees game I went to Tuesday (which they won BTW, in case you haven’t been paying attention) I picked up some postcards featuring the Yankees and Yankee Stadium. I was going to start posting them this week (since I am completely infected with Yankee Fever). However, I received two lovely postcards from my friend Ló, who I met on the website Shelfari. We share a love of True Crime books. Unfortunately, it is hard for her to find them in Brazil, where she lives. Fortunately, I have little room for books where I live and love passing them on to people I know will read them. As a thank-you, she sent me this postcard of Brazil, São Paulo to be precise. The other one I will post next week.

And aren’t these stamps beautiful?

I won another blog contest and along with my prize the blog author sent me this lovely card.

You can click on the picture to see that this is a trading card. The contest I won was Lisa Jackson Read-Fest. You should really check out J. Kaye’s Book Blog. It’s a great blog if you love to read.

>My postcard collection is not just postcards people have sent me. Take this postcard,

Back in May, Em and I went to the Museum of the City of New York. The link takes you to my blog post of the day. It as very interesting, as they had a special section dedicated to Henry Hudson. I found this postcard in the gift shop. I like to buy postcards as rememberences. Unfortunately, I don’t have the back of the postcard with any description because I glued it in my album.

I have found the saying to be true. I meet lots of friendly people in New York.

Behold! The Wonder’s of China! OK this isn’t really China, Em and Stitch were in Florida and went to Disney World. Specifically this is from Epcot Center.

I don’t remember this trip, it was in 1993, that means that Stitch, Gwen and Tigger were around, it would have been the 4of them, that’s why she said “M & entourage’. Em probably had just gone to visit her parents.
