WaterSense

New WaterSense Factoid
If every home in the United States installed WaterSense labeled faucets or faucet aerators in the bathrooms, it would save 60 billion gallons of water annually—saving households more than $350 million in water bills and about $600 million in energy costs to heat their water. Additionally, water and waste water utilities would save 200 million kilowatt-hours of electricity normally used for supplying and treating that water. The WaterSense website has a complete list of WaterSense labeled products.

>Training Today blech

>We had training today and it was blech, except for the desire to strangle Dilip whenever he opened his mouth. I was trying to listen to the instructor and he just wouldn’t shut up! I resisted of course cause I am here and not in custody. But soon I need to leave, actually, I should have already left. I just wanted to get this sent.

I have taken another step toward my move, I got a cell phone with the area code of where I am moving. I took my old phone and got some minutes on it and when you go online, you can get the area code of where you will be using the phone, so that’s what I did. I gave Em the number and she has been sending me text messages to the new number today because I was not at my computer all day.

Well, it is past time for me to be on my way. I am planning on working out tonight so I will be back when I am done. Oh one more thing, I finished The Scandal of the Season, it was O.K., just not my cuppa. The library sent me an e-mail that Dewey by Vicki Myron was in so I am going to stop to pick it up on my way home. It is not next on my list to read, next I am reading Double Bind, I have to read them quick so I can return them on time. I also just requested Casino Royale from the library because Sarah was talking about James Bond on her blog, so now I feel compelled to check out Daniel Craig as Bond.

I ended up not going to Allsport, I know I should have, but my throat is all filled up with crud and I just couldn’t work up the energy to. Tigger wanted some Spree, which I told him I would go out and get when I went to Allsport, since I didn’t go I had to think of something else. I went instead to get gas and it was $2.99 a gallon! I was so excited, I never thought that I would think of $2.99 for a gallon of gas a cheap price!

We got e-mails for our training in Lake Placid so I put the address of the hotel in my GPS tonight. Now I have to make sure to remember to check the car I get to be sure the cigarette lighter works.

>Marie from The Boston Bibliophile hosts this fun meme.

Today’s question: Series. Do you collect any series? Do you read series books? Fantasy? Mystery? Science fiction? Religious? Other genre? Do you use the series feature in LT to help you find new books or figure out what you might be missing from a series?

In order, Yes, Yes, No, Yes, Yes, No, Yes. I collect Ann Rule, although I don’t know if you could call that a true series since she writes true crime, but her collections of short stories are numbered. I have read series books ever since I can remember. In school it was all the Nancy Drew and Hardy Boys, and I think I read them in order, and a series of books that were young people biographies (probably why I read memoirs today), most recently it was Peter Robinson’s series of Inspector Banks books. I don’t read fantasy as a rule or religious, I like mystery, some science fiction and historical fiction. I did not know about the series feature in LT, I usually go to FantasticFiction or my library website has that information.

>Gluten-free Macaroni and Cheese

>is what I got for lunch. It was frozen and it was a good choice. Not that it was supper yummy, ’cause it wasn’t, but because it didn’t make me sick or upset my tummy one little bit. I needed something with no allergens in it that didn’t have a lot of roughage, when my stomach is unsettled that is the last thing I can eat.

As for the city, after buying jackets we just kept on walking until we got to Central Park, we bought ice cream from a vendor, I got brain freeze due to eating it too fast and we walked around the park a little bit. Then we walked back to GCT by way of Time Square. We were going to do some shopping but there were too many tourists just milling around and getting in our way so we stopped to eat at this o.k. touristy place, service was good and friendly, food was o.k. They didn’t have Glenfiddich, so we had Johnnie Walker Black.

When we got back to GCT, before we went in, I took Em to my favorite bar, Annie Moore’s, if you look at the picture, you see the bar and at the end in the back are 3 steps, and some tables, we were sitting at the first table to the left as you look at the picture. We had Glenfiddich and potato skins, they were very good. Em approved of my bar, she says when we come down on the first, we will have dinner there because the prices are pretty reasonable.

We got to GCT about 2 minutes before the train was leaving, so we decided just to wait for the next one, went to the bathroom, Em got some Pepsi, I was already working on a migraine so I didn’t want a whole soda, just sips of hers. Then we got on the train home, and who got on the train in Yonkers? Yes you guessed it, Em’s kid that was on the same train with us in the morning!

So now I am done, at least, I can’t think of anything else to say. Next trip is November 1st and we have plans for that day.

It was an almost perfect day,

yesterday when Em and I went to the city. I almost started this post, I hate migraines! That was my first thought when I got out of bed and nearly fell on my head. But then thought the people who wanted to read about my day in NYC wouldn’t read it, that was the only thing that marred yesterday, and it started on the way home, there were probably a few things that contributed to it. I was glad Tigger had a Topamax I could take because I am sure I would not be feeling human now if I hadn’t had it.

So first thing when I got back from getting my car and saw Em in her gorgeous new purple sweater looking smokin’ HOT I knew I had to wear my new red sweater. I made sure to be super careful with my makeup, I also knew that there was no way my pale lipstick was going to cut it. I told her, first thing we do, is stop at the make-up store in GCT so I can get some RED lipstick.

DSCN0479We left from the train station and that was where the first weird, funny, coincidental thing happened. As we were pulling in to park, Em saw one of the students from school, it is one of the ones that Em calls ‘her kids’ that calls Em one of her other mothers, Em tutors her in P.I.G. Em said she can’t be going down to the city. Then as we were waiting for the train, Em’s cell phone goes off. She was mad, saying which one of my kids . . . It was this girl, she was waiting for the train too! She was going to see her boyfriend in Yonkers. So she sat behind us and talked to us and took a picture of her and Em and sent it to Tigger with a note, I’m on the train with your mom and you’re not!

We didn’t get red lipstick first thing, we went to the bathroom first thing. That when I discovered something that had the potential to ruin our day. I asked Em if she realized how stupid her friend was. Being the accommodating understanding BFF that she is, she asked how stupid? “You know your friend who takes little pills so she knows when her period is coming, then doesn’t make sure she has the supplies she needs?” Yep, the girl thing attack. However, even though my panties were stained, I didn’t really start flowing until last night, after I went to bed.

redlipstickSo then we went to the make-up store so I could get red lipstick. At first we couldn’t find any, all the reds were too dark, or too pink, or too brown, or a color that we thought should have been red wasn’t! I finally found one, and the name of the color had been torn off! So the sales clerk had to look through all the lipsticks until he found it, and he did. So here is my ‘Absolute Rouge’ lipstick, and it looks fabulous on. Something really cool about the tube of lipstick, the cap and base have magnets, so they click together and hold tight. Em got some really pretty eyeshadow too. I want some new eyeshadow, but I want to wait until I get my makeup done so I can get a color that I know looks good on me.

anntaylorhlcream2Then we started for Central Park. Central Park was our destination all along. Em wanted to go to the park. Why? I dunno, I’m just her BFF and go with the flow. We were also looking for jackets for us. Neither of us liked our current jackets so we both were looking for something not too heavy and the right color, for Em, that means black, purple, or red. For me, red, ivory or blue. Well, all we could find were too heavy, too expensive or for me wool, which I can’t wear. Along the way we stopped in Ann Taylor, which had some very nice jackets, but none suitable for what we wanted and I bought some very nice feeling and smelling body cream. We finally found something at the Gap, Em got a quilted down vest and I got a denim jacket. I love denim jackets and this was just your typical denim jacket that you wear for years.

This was not the end of our day, but I am getting very tired, so I will finish tomorrow. Like I said, if I hadn’t got that stupid migraine, I would have been up today and able to tell you everything.

>Tuesday Thingers

>This is the first time that I’ve participated in the Tuesday Thingers weekly question. Marie from The Boston Bibliophile hosts this fun meme.

Today’s question: Early Reviewers- do you participate? How many books (approximately) have you received through the program? Have you liked them generally? What’s your favorite ER book? Do you participate in the discussion group on LT?

I joined Early Reviewers in August of this year and got a book the first time out. I have just finished it and have not as yet written my review but will be before the weekend. I liked this book ‘Hell Bent’ by William G. Tapply but since I have only got one book I can’t answer the favorite question. I don’t usually participate in the discussion group.

>I had a cheryl crow earworm this morning. That’s what happens when I read random G.D.T. threads in the morning. I was up way to late last night and I didn’t even get anything done. Tigger has the baby assignment, kind of funny his partner is a boy. Em says, “Tigger and KM adopted twins.” two each two pound bags of rice.

I changed my purse and I forgot to put my ID in the purse I brought today. I feel bad cause I like this purse better then the expensive EB one I bought. I just need to get the black one for winter.

Stitch has my car today, normally he doesn’t so I don’t know what is going to happen tonight, if I will have to get Gwen or if I can go to Allsport. I feel like I haven’t been in forever and really need to go.

My sniffles have morphed into a real cold and I am getting a head pressure feeling. I really should go now. I think I have said everything I need to say.

I finished reading Hell Bent by William G. Tapply and have posted a review on Shelfari and LibraryThing. You can click here to go to my review on LibraryThing. I do not want to post it here since it is a fairly long review but I enjoyed the book. I don’t feel like running out and getting more Brady Coyne Novels, but it was an enjoyable read.

>Discoveries while cleaning

>Yesterday I told you had to move stuff from the rolling cart. I enlisted Gwen’s help. I decided not to just move stuff but to also throw out stuff I didn’t need. In the bottom I found a backpack full of yarn along with a started afghan or blanket whichever you want to call it. I think there is a difference but I don’t know what it is.

The backpack was moldy so I had to throw it out. Fortunately the backpack had a plastic lining and the yarn was in plastic bags so it was O.K. After we got down with the cleaning and everything Gwen and I went out. I took her to the bank to cash her paycheck then we went to the mall, got lunch, got ice cream and I got some containers to put the yarn from the backpack in.

I thought one would be big enough, but to be on the safe side I got two, so now all the yarn in my computer room that was hanging in bags is in a nice plastic container. I have no idea where the pattern is that I was using for the afghan, I don’t even remember what book it was in, so I just made up a pattern out of my head, I just started it on what was already done, so it looks kind of weird, but I am writing it down so I can recreate it. Then last night when everyone was at the movie about the windshield wiper guy, I stayed home and knitted.

Today after church I wanted to go to Allsport, I also wanted to take pictures of leaves, but I really didn’t feel up to it. Then I remembered that tomorrow is a holiday, so I can do all that tomorrow. Maybe instead of driving around, I will take a walk and take pictures.

>Organic tea tastes funny

>Last night when I was going home, I was hungry, not surprising, I am always hungry when I leave work. I decided to get tea instead of getting something to eat. I stopped at my usual place and got tea with fat free milk. It tasted funny. I thought maybe because they put regular milk in it, but then I noticed the tag said organic tea and realised, it’s not a funny milk taste, its the tea that tastes funny. Now I know there are people who will take issue with my stance and say that it doesn’t or its better or whatnot, I say: DON’T MESS WITH MY TEA! So from now on, I will be making my own tea and putting it in a travel cup to take home. Also, I think I will only be buying PG Tipps. It really does taste better.
