>My Sony Reader came today. It is pretty and I put the two e-books I got to review on it. I am also thinking about buying two books, just for kicks. True crime of course. Only problem is, I am afraid to take it out of my bedroom! I am afraid I will either break it or it will get stolen.
I went to order the dresses from Chadwicks, two of them no longer available. So I picked out a couple other dresses. I should be all set for summer. If it is warm enough this Saturday, I am wearing a dress to the city.
On March 18, 1837, Grover Cleveland, the only U.S. president who served two non-consecutive terms, was born. Following his death on June 24, 1908, his obituary appeared in The Times.
>Officially the first day of Spring is Friday, 20 March 2009, I have been reading about how people decide its Spring or what they feel is a sign of Spring. For some its when they see the birds flying about or flowers blooming. The black capped chickadees are in the trees and the crocuses are blooming, a couple weeks ago in Central Park, Em and I saw these flowers, I think she said they were ‘Snowdrops’, pretty little white flowers, they bloom before the crocuses in Spring. I used to say, that for me, the first sign of Spring was an itchy nose and watery eyes. That is not the case so much anymore since I am getting allergy shots.
Now, for me, the first sign of Spring is, and I know you are waiting for this, ants in the cat food. Now, I keep his food in a plastic container so far no ants in there, the cat food I am talking about is the cat food that Butterscotch scatters all over the floor. Then from there, they find the bowl and **yuck! I hate ants!** then I have to throw out the bowl of food. This year I moved the bowl to the step next to the toilet, so far they have not found the bowl. I have told Butterscotch that if he didn’t leave his food all over the floor the ants wouldn’t come. I think he hates ants too since he will not go near the bowl when the ants are in it. However this has not stopped him from scattering his food. He must either (a) not understand me or (b) know that I will clean up the food and get rid of the ants. I have put out the ant traps, I don’t know if they will work because (a) I just threw them in the wall space behind the loose board in the bathroom instead of carefully setting them down since I was getting ready for work and was rushed, (b) they are left over from last year, I bought two boxes and never opened the second since the ants didn’t come back after the first traps were put out. So now my morning routine consists of, bathroom, contacts, brush teeth, clean up ants and cat food, get dressed, put on makeup and jewelry, leave for train. I really need to get up earlier.
>the last bit of excitement from our trip to the city. They were having the annual pub crawl in my home city(B__) and things got a little out of hand, we were driving down the road towards home from the train station when we saw Police Car lights. I know there is a real name for them, anyway, there were so many, I knew some had to have come from outside B__, I counted 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 different local towns and villages and one from across the river and besides them two MTA cars and at least one Dutchess County Sheriff’s car. It was so crazy we couldn’t get through for about 10 minutes.
Found out this morning it was a fight that got out of hand because of all the drinking. When I was listening to the radio and they talked about it, it seemed like he was talking in a normal voice and shouted the name of the town. “Saturday during the annual pub crawl in B__, a fight broke out. Police responded and 16 people were arrested and the B__ Police had to call for reinforcements from as far away as across the river.” The mayor is now thinking about discontinuing the annual pub crawl.
Today I went to Banana Republic for the dress, I didn’t like it when I tried it on. I consoled myself with a pair of earrings. They didn’t have them in the store, well they had them but a stone was missing so first the sales lady looked up other stores that had them, she also said they were online, so she called and I ordered them online, which turned out to be a good thing, the price was a lot less online. More than made up for the shipping cost. So I am happy now.
>Before I go to bed, I just saw this on You-Tube and wanted to share.

They sang that song in Annie. Then the day after, yesterday, Em, Fred and I went to Manhattan. Got a late start since we both had some things to do before. She had to get the oil changed in her car and I had to take Gwen to the library and get gas for my car and get coffee. Gwen got a snack when I was getting coffee. Coffee is important right? I took my green bag so I could take my book The All-True Travels and Adventures of Lidie Newton by Jane Smiley. I read it on the train down to the city and back home. Since it was a little warmer then past trips, I was looking for a lighter jacket to wear and found my black quilted one with the pretty silver pin.
Em is trying to plan one thing to do each time we go down. She wanted to take Fred to the FDNY museum, I wanted to get my nails done. One of them came off, I didn’t have any glue so I tried sticking it back on with clear nail polish, that didn’t work, and I didn’t get around to getting gel on it until before the nail split and I had 9 long and one short. HATE THAT!
We walked to SoHo(that’s where the museum was). Em figured we could find a salon there and they would go to the museum and I would go get my nails done. Well, that didn’t work out. So after we went through the museum (which was kind of lame compared to the NYPD museum) we started back toward GCT, keeping our eyes open for a nail salon. On the way we stopped at Banana Republic, Em was looking at dresses, I pulled out this orange dress (according to the website it’s Leon Coral) as I did that Em walked from the back of the store and said, “You would look so freakin’ hot in that!” I didn’t try it on, there was a line for the dressing room and we didn’t want to leave Fred alone in the store and she was the one looking for a dress, I just happened to find one. Anyway, I wasn’t going to spend that much for a dress without trying it on so I didn’t get it.
We found a nail place on Madison, Em and Fred kept walking and I went in, the plan was to meet them at Annie Moore’s. We ended up meeting at GCT and I got a pasta dish from one of the little take away places downstairs and eating it on the train. I didn’t get the nails polished, decided to do that at home, then when I got home I couldn’t decide what color!

So I lined up my bottles of polish to try to decide.Should I go dark, it’s not spring yet, but it is going to be spring next week, so what color, the lavender or blue or maybe that grass green polish? Or should I be traditional, rose or red or mauve, this is so difficult!
I eventually decided on the lavender, but it took me until just now!
>”We have lent a huge amount of money to the U.S. Of course we are concerned about the safety of our assets. To be honest, I am definitely a little worried.”
– PRIME MINISTER WEN JIABAO, of China.
>Just got in from the BHS production of Annie. This has not been the best of days. I fell asleep on the train, I mean really passed out, didn’t wake up in GCT. Then at work I realized my sweater was on inside out. Sigh.
Em sent me an e-mail about a walk/run for the Gorillas. So we are doing that, actually the whole family is doing it. We just have to finish the registration and think of a name.
Now I need to sleep, this migraine is making my head feel oookie.
>Fell asleep on the train, probably would still be there if the conductor hadn’t woke me up.
Went to the ladies room after sitting at my desk for two hours and talking to people to discover my sweater was on inside out.
In my defense, the sweater had no tag on it. However, it does have snaps and I was looking in the mirror and thinking to myself, that looks like the back of the snap. LOL!
How’s your day so far?
