>Snowfall is bye bye

>No not from New York, from my blog. It was, and I don’t know how else to say this, making my computer screen jump. I have a feeling it is due to the browser I use. In any case, if you would like it for your blog click here.

I also added it to my ‘Check out this blog’ on the side.

At Least Six Americans Killed in Attack at Base in Afghanistan

At least six Americans were killed Wednesday when a suicide bomber wearing an explosive vest made his way into an American base in Khost Province in southeastern Afghanistan, according to NATO military officials. The suicide bomber died in the blast. Six more Americans were wounded, some of them seriously, suggesting that the death toll could climb, the officials said.

Warm hands

I was visiting the blogs on my blogroll and came across a post titled “warm heart makes warm hands” on Out and About in New York City. As I looked at the picture I thought, those look very familiar, …

I started digging around in my winter stuff stash and ta da! Mine sadly are not wool, I am allergic to wool. I am also consumed with envy because mine are not as pretty and after sitting in a bag they smell like dust. I sniffed them too many times and sneezed several times. Now, if I could only remember where I put the directions …

>I got a request for some ‘clues’ on my contest. Here goes:

The jar is a Sunfresh “Fruit Made Easy” jar.

It is 6″ tall and 3-¼” in diameter.

I don’t know how many ounces it held, that was on the label and as you can tell, I removed the label.

Now for the prize. I realize this picture is not great quality, my camera is not designed for this type of photography. The ear wires are silver as are the chains, the beads are glass. They are about 2-¼” long. Not very fancy, just pretty little ear bobs. Hand made by me.

>Collecting pennies

>My friends will tell you I am a tad compulsive. They are being kind, I am extremely compulsive. I have promised my friend Mickie a post for her, but I have other things to blog about so she will have to wait, really, I can’t help it.

When I put my change in jars, I sort it. One jar for pennies, one for quarters and one for the rest. I recently ran out room for the pennies. Can you guess how many pennies in the jar? Come on PLEASE?

Oh you want a prize if you guess it, hmmm. O.K. How about a pair of silver and glass bead earrings? Contest open only to United States residents due to cost of international postage. Post your guesses!

For additional details and picture of the earrings, click here.

>Those of you who have been around for a while know I have more then just this blog.

Last night I was on my book blog Bella is reading … posting my latest review. I don’t go on that blog every day, just to post reviews and other book related news. My reading is way down this year. Imagine my surprise when I looked at my followers and saw that I have 50 followers on that blog!

Came back here to see I have 31! Wow! People are reading my blogs! I better shape up and watch my mouth!

Back to my life, I have been taking it pretty easy these past few days. Getting up when I want, doing pretty much whatever I feel like. Tomorrow it ends, back to work for a couple days, then off again. This week coming up is a three day work week. Nice huh?

The Transportation Department is ordering airlines to let passengers stuck in stranded airplanes exit after three hours.

>Rob Thomas

>The concert was great. So why did it take me two days to get back here to blog about it? Umm …. I was recovering? No, we had our Circuit Assembly and I had to go. It was a promise I made to go to the concert.

Ever been to Mohegan Sun? Since I don’t gamble I have never been. I didn’t know that casinos also put on concerts. Anyway, the bathrooms have plastic on the toilets, and there are these green things, a round disc on the wall with a motion sensor or a green button on the back of the toilet to push, and the plastic goes around so you have fresh plastic to sit on. Of course I didn’t do it, I mean, I use the public restroom in GCT, I’m going to worry about the restroom in the middle of nowhere, Connecticut? I did wave my hand in front of the green disc after just to see if it worked, and it did. Yeah I know, some of you are shaking your heads at me. :p
Em and I had dinner at The Dubliner

An authentic and lively 3,000 square-foot Irish Pub, The Dubliner features traditional pub fare, including Guinness Stew, Bangers and Champ, Corned Beef and Cabbage and much more. Choose from an assortment of beers on tap, enjoy a cocktail with friends at the bar or relax by the fireplace. At The Dubliner, you’ll feel like you’ve been whisked away to the heart of Ireland.

Going to the restroom I encountered this sign:

And then this sign:
So glad they had the English up there, could have been embarrassing. And inside the ladies room was this sign:

No idea what this means, maybe somebody could help me? Anybody?

Dinner for me was ‘Bangers and Mash’ (sausage and mashed potatoes). Em had a Caesar salad with chicken. I had this specialty Vodka and caramel drink for dessert, kind of yummy, I think, I don’t really remember. Then we walked around and looked at the shops until we could go in the arena.

I was going to get a Rob Thomas hat like Em got in NY when she went to see Rob at the Beacon, but they didn’t have any. I got a wristband that has the concert in a USB thingy and in a day or two I can download the encore. The opening act at Mohegan Sun was Ryan Star. Em bought his CD, which he was going to be signing during the intermission so Em sent me down to do that. The picture is kind of blurry I know. Also, before he was done with his act, I dropped the CD, it fell down into the row below, so I just climbed down and got it. Someone should tell me I am not a teenager anymore, I now have a huge bruise on my left knee.

Getting the CD signed I didn’t get back until Rob had already started Fire on the Mountain. Then there he was! Rob Thomas! Ok, this is really what I saw:

We were glad we went to Mohegan Sun, his concert at the Borgata was cancelled and rescheduled for January 9, 2010.

>Postcard Friday #49

>In all the excitement of finding my ring and going to see Rob Thomas tonight, I almost forgot about Postcard Friday!

My parents live in Washington State, when I visit them I buy postcards to bring home, you know it saves all that time, driving out to see something, then not seeing anything because it rains all the time meaning there are rainclouds everywhere and you can’t see anything!

The back of the card says:
LAKE CRESCENT
OLYMPIC NATIONAL PARK
WASHINGTON
This view is from Storm King Mountain.
I find that insanely funny because there is a Storm King Mountain here in New York, right across the river from me. It is a lovely 14º Fahrenheit here (-10ºC), I wonder what the temperature is at that Storm King Mountain?
