I first saw this fun Meme on Daryl’s blog. She encouraged me to join so here is my first Postcard Friendship Friday.
This was sent to me by a lady in my church. She had gone to Canada to attend a religious convention. I don’t remember her going, I do remember her. You can see the year was 1972, and I was living in Washington State at the time.
I wanted the first postcard I posted to be the oldest one I had, which my Grannie sent me from Italy, but it wasn’t in my keepsake box. I will be very upset if it is gone. I don’t have many things from my Granny.

>I know this is not the first trip to NYC, and I seem to spend a lot of time there, but this was different in that we spent the night and so had two full days in Manhattan. My feet are sore and I have a blister on my heel, I am sunburned, tired and the skin on my upper thighs is chaffed from rubbing together. I thought that only happened to fat people, does this make me fat?
Let me start by telling you what went wrong. First off, the night before Em had to take D to the hospital because he was having seizures. So at first Em was thinking she would have to stay home and so Gwen and I would be going by ourselves. I was going through all the worries, didn’t know where the hotel was, didn’t know the name of the hotel, didn’t know where the circle line was etc. My main worry was that being by myself, since Gwen was attending a seminar, was that I would end up downtown on Broadway getting something pierced because I was bored! As it turned out Em came, she just had to come later because she had to get D’s meds from the pharmacy.
Next thing was on the train going to the city I looked at Gwen and said, “I remember what I forgot. My toothbrush.” She looked at me and said, “So did I.” That was easily solved, I found these single use toothbrush thingies at Duane Reade. When we got to the hotel, across the street at Penn Station there were two fire engines and 1 ambulance, all with their lights flashing. I took a notebook to write in my story, decided to toss it because it was covered in coffee stains and bought a replacement at Staples, it was the wrong type of notebook so I couldn’t write more of my story. Not that I would have had time. My left eye was bothering me all day Saturday and all day Sunday.
That’s all I can remember as going wrong. All minor things and not enough to ruin my trip. Next post with be about the trip along with pictures.
